tbowling -> 40 Size Telemaster (12/6/2006 2:46:24 PM)

I have recently obtained an old 40 size (I think) 6 ft. wingspan telemaster. I am in the process of repairing and recovering. I have no information on this plane, such as CG. Any help?

I have one of those with electric power and run it with the CG at 115mm back from leading edge.

Fly safe, Glover

Just finishted mine with Thunder Tiger Pro 46. Velcro battery on back wall radio compartment to balance.
More power than needed. Used 5 washers for down thrust and still not enough. Has flaperons and flaps. can slow to
a crawl. Love this plane.

Flaperons AND flaps???? How does that work????

I just won a 6' telemaster electric in a raffle. It's my first plane, and I had planned on going glow powered...

I've gotten opinions from some that it'll be no problem, others say I need to be concerned about whether the electric version is structurally capable of being glow powered. It sure is light.

Recommendations have been that I put in a .40 or an OS FX .25.

As this is my first plane, I'd love to hear any recommendations anyone can make!

I would bet it would fly fine with a .25 in it, because the Senior Telemaster will fly with as little as a .46, although I have stuck a Zenoah G20 on mine for giggles.

I would look at the firewall and fuselage doublers up in the front, if it didnt look strong enough I would double it all up with some extra balsa sheet and reinforce the firewall with some triangular stock and maybe some thin ply if needed, then I would stick a .40 on it and go have a ball.

The CG range for the Telemaster should be 25% -33% of the chord from the leading edge. I would start with 25% and move it back as I became familiar with the plane
