I need a winter project. How about a Geat Planes Ultimate Biplane 40 kit. Any one built one. Looks like an easy flyer on low rates and enter 3D fun at max rates. Engine O.S. .70 four stroke?

Yes, that was my winter project last year. It is a nice kit to build. Mine went together well with only a few minor problems. It is an easy flyer with no bad habits. It is not really a 3D ship - the wing loading is too high and the control surfaces are too small. It is a very capable aerobatic sport plane. Search on the kit building form - there was a long thread on it last year.

I have a Saito 72 on mine. The OS 70 would be perfect.

I built one with an OS 70. Excellent combo!

Like JP said, it's a good build, not too tough, and a great aerobatic flier. But it won't 3-D, it just wasn't designed for it.

Great plane and kit. That was my winter build last year. I have a Saito-82a in mine. Lots of power. OS-70 would be nice too.

Most of what are considered the greatest airframes in history weren't. Real or models. 3-D is over rated.

If you want ballistic performance, get a canon or a rocket. If you want to hover, get a helicopter or hang it by it's wheels on a clothesline. But if you want to fly joyfully, get a biplane.
