Having seen HR quality though, I cant put my faith in those compared to the Losi ones.

i am actually quite impressed with these. they are tight, no leaks, work VERY well, and look great too.

as for the update above:

perhaps the antenna is broken inside the wire causing the poor range? i have had this happen before.

Dave, I know a driver of you skill this rarely happens, but if you hit something head on, do you find the steering suddenly reentering at a different offset? I have encountered this, and the only way to correct is to lift the truck up and put it back down, or reset the trim on the remote.

I never have had a servo issue, I would assume that the lexan makeshift tierods would give enough to allow the servo to not lose center. Sorry bud, but I never had an issue with this. Still running bone stock electronics throughout except for the losi lipo.

Hey I have a few problems with my two micro's.

#1 MT- Whenever I get within 5 feet the throttle engages and it starts creeping. But when I put my hand on the transmitter antenna it stops.

#2 MT- Something in the transmission is very tight. It has a bad breakskid and is hard to move forwards and backwards.
It also has something wrong with the motor. I will be driving it and all of the sudden the motor will stop spinning but steering still works. Its not the battery because it works fine in #1 MT.

Does anyone have any advice?

Did you try replacing your transmitter batteries with new ones and NOT rechargeables? The alkalines hold a higher voltage then rechargeables. Does this happen only in certain locations? Meaning if you go to a parking lot of something does this still happen? Are you capacitors still intact on the motor? If your pretty handy you can use aluminum insulated wire and replace the thin guage antenna wire that is supplied. It holds its shape nicely and you can cut it about 1" longer then stock.

My truck had 1 too many shims on its transmission top shaft, right where the slipper clutch backplate is. I took one out and it rolls nicely and is faster as well. Other then that, you can of course check your pinion to spur mesh, make sure your stock motor bushings are oiled and also loosed ALL tranny screws slightly like many people have posted already.

Hope I was of some help to you!!!

Thanks for the tips I oiled the bushed a little more just in case and as of now the MT #2 is running smooth. What is this aluminum wire you talk of? I would like to get like 100ft of range if at all possible.

i had insane range when tested, in fact, as far as i could see it. this was after soldering a stronger wire on the Rx. i just used a leftover piece of wire i had laying around.

also, here is some of my inspiration for my most recent order....

Hmmm.. maybe that's my issue then. I'm running ball links I stole from a mini heli.

whatcha looking for? the antenna? i don't think i have a link, but i know there are pix WAY back in this thread.

basically, the original antenna was junk. so i took it off, and soldered just a plain old piece of wire on it. it was roughly the same length, but was certainly a heavier gauge. i could go REALLY far with the car.

let me see if i can find the pics i posted....

hmm..i used one from this cheapo rc car that has a little spriny at the bottom so it can flex..
i think it is better when you have a fleible one so it doesnt always get scrathed when you flip it..

This is the anteena is currently have. I have it screwed to the tab instead of being soldered. I love this cable because it is durable and has no memory. Do you think there is a way to solder it on?

Look at all that goo00000d stuff!!!

NICE!

Did you order from the Toyz?

Mike, and everyone else, if you're going to go with the 3Racing trans. do yourself a favor and get a set of these:

TAMIYA Hop-up Options, 3mm Shim Set #OP-585

I picked them up at my LHS, but I've seen them on eBay as well.

I used them to shim up my trans, and it's holding up very well. I have tried to use the tranny without shims, and blew the gears half way through the first battery. KRO mentioned a while back he shimmed at 0.5mm on one side. In my case I ended up shimming at 0.3mm total, using a 0.2 on one side and 0.1 on the other. You've got to find that nice -no slop movement- from side to side, without being too tight. I think this is much easier than that wire method I saw on YouTube.

The good part of this shim pack is that you can mix and match and shim from both sides of the dif or just one... from 0.1mm to 0.6mm or more... it comes with 10 shims of each size 0.1, 0.2 or 0.3mm

I LIKE IT!!!

thanks, it is all in already

i need the shims tho, and can't seem to find them. any help would be appreciated.

also, the light setup, it is a 5 wire jumper from the servo to the esc on the stock car, but with the new 3 wire setup i am wondering how i will wire it in. there is clearly a power and a ground, but what shoild i make these tap into? i was thinking the switch for the ESC, as that would be constant power while the car is on. does that sound about right?

oh, and you should hear this little motor run, it sounds CRAZY!!!!

Yep , your gonna need too shim that gearbox . You will strip the diff if you dont .

But once you get it shimmed it will last a long time , I probably have 40-50 runs on mine since the last time I rebuilt it and its still nice and smooth .

i saw the wire trick on you tube from ThephilT, but i don't see how that helps much as it is not round (the "knot" in the wire makes me apprehensive)

so i would love to see where to get this shim kit. i searched for a bit, and the only thing i found was stuff on Chinese eBay.

i installed the servo and Rx last night, and programmed the ESC (which was WAY to easy BTW, to losi for another great product!!)

also, to thetoyz.com!! RJ rocks, and is a hell of a person/company to deal with!!!

i had another thought about the lights:

since there is clearly a red (+) and a black (-) wire coming off the lights, i was thinking i could tap this in on one side of the switch, as in, in line with the red wire on the switch. that way, once the switch is triggered, the lights will come on.

anyone have any suggestions?

I have a few Q's

Where can I get these supposed shims and how many should I put. Also do you have to use the 3 racing gearbox with this. I plan on running an Atomic BB and Lipo but Is it nesscary?

Just go to eBay.com and type in the search: "Tamiya 3mm shim set" it's part #OP-585

A seller I have bought from before has them, his name is "Jr-Rc" in Japan.

I can never seem to upload photos here.... don't know why, otherwise I would take a shot of the Shim set.

I'll copy and paste a direct link to eBay... in the next reply, in case the moderator removes it.

i dont know if anyone has found a fix for the front end slop yet.
but tonight i had my T out and was looking over my spare parts.
i had 2 stock shock shafts laying in my tool box, AH these fit tight in the knuckel, a little too tight but if you can bore the hole in the knuckle just a hair larger then it will turn freely.

if you use these insted of the stock screws it takes away 95% of the slop in the steering!
