Yes, I bought two of them. One was a little on the tight side, but I think it loosened up after a few runs. But the other one needed shimming and that one works amazingly good now. Better than any combo I have ever tried.

Thanks joe. Hey can you kinda explain what I am looking for when it would or would not need shimming...sure I am beating a dead horse, but I understand shimming tightens up the play in the diff bearing...what exactly to look for I am a litlle foggy in understanding. TY

this should help you understand it.....

update:

just ordered a 230 mah 2s lipo for the car, as i think my losi lipo is showing it's age. i got ~ 15 min run times, and if i went too hard on it, it would cut out, as if the LVC was taxed. i think a battery with more punch will cure the trick.

also, the range seemed a little lackluster, i had ~ 50 feet. i will look inot this issue, or just spring for a spektrum Rx to go with my spektrum Tx if i can't find a solution.

more updates to follow, with pix and vids once i can get them.

get the battery from diymicrotuner.com , it is more powerful.

if you want a 3 wire Rx, i will sell you mine cheap (the one i JUST got, i am gonna go Spektrum since i already have the Tx) then just buy the servo and you are set. (the servo from thetoyz is 14.99, so i would sell you the Rx to go with it for 15 shipped, saving you 5 bucks. this way, you can put that 5 bux towards the brushless motor )

hereis the pic i took 2 nights ago....

as for the shocks, i love my HR oil filled ones, so you may want to check them out.

otherwise, you are on the right path.

When you put together the 3Racing trans. with all the gears in place, hold the two outdrives (where the dogbones go in) with your thumb and forefinger and move them back and forth as one unit. You'll probably notice that there is some play. If you don't shim this, the little bevel gears with those tiny teeth will separate under power and shred easily. SO... putting shims in will hold them together and stop the shredding. KRO had to shim 0.5mm, I had to shim 0.3mm and -JOE- had one trans. that he didn't even have to shim at all. So I gather it all depends on the particular transmission box and gears you have.

I noticed RJ at theToyz must have made a deal with 3Racing, so theToyz and 3racing transmission's with the ball bearings at the top... same deal. Nice work RJ

Anyway, when you watch the video mike mentioned you will see where to put the spacers (instead of that wire).

I shimmed both sides, 0.1mm on one and 0.2mm on the other, shimming one side at 0.3mm would probably work as well, I just figured making the dif centered might be better.

Hope that helps you Desert

wait, are you implying that the 3 racing trans from the toyz is already shimmed due to the bearings?

Nope, just that this:

http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_details.lasso?id=10339&cat_name=#

And this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Alloy-Gear-Box-Gearbox-Micro-T-Desert-Truck-3Racing_W0QQitemZ180268588059QQihZ008QQcategoryZ44028QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Look exactly the same.

I own the blue 3Racing one, but I would guess the red one would probably have to be shimmed as well, as it's most probably made for theToyz by 3Racing.

Get what I'm sayin'????

-Make sure you post some pics of your T when it's all done-

I bet it's gonna FLY!

oooooooohhhhhhhh, i gotcha.

yeah, it looks kinda cool, but definitely tightly packed. i need to solder in the lights, and get the body to fit all the wiring under it, and then i will surely have pix. i just got the shipping notice for the battery, so i may run the losi lipo a few more times, and then send it to the grave (unless someone wants to give it a try, i will ship it for a few bux) but i think it is getting weak.

i am looking forward to some serious speeds!! it was definitely fast last night, and that is with a blown diff. once the trans comes in, the shims, and the new battery, we will have a serious little machine on our hands
