nos2006, have you thought about the radio equipment and engine? Are you saying you'd like to buy the entire package, with radio and engine? You understand that the radio is over $100 new, and engine is around $80, depending on size and quality. So the $40 airframe (that's ARF cost, the materials are more like $10) is not a big piece of the cost, particularly since there's fuel to buy, AMA membership, tools, flightline equipment, etc.

Sorry NOS2006, the answer doesn't change much, I'm afraid, only some of the gear necessary.

If I were you, and you really want one look into it, get the gear, build it, learn how to fly and enjoy.

If you are a newbie, You are not going to like the pizza box flier for your first plane. too squirlie for first timers. Look for a trainer and have someone at the field with a buddy box get you started, You won't regret it. There are spad trainers and also aircore makes a plastic trainer that will put up with a lot of ground!!

I would suggest that you shouldn't consider a 2 channel plane and the straight wing type is out of the question for a first plane. The 2 channels will only give you rudder and elevator. You really should have throttle control as well as ailerons. If you don't have ailerons, you could consider a trainer with a lot of dihedral - necessary for turning with rudder.

Your best bet is probably the Debonair, 4 channel trainer with a 40-46 size engine. Although it can be flown 3 channel, it performs best as a 4 channel. Good plane to learn with.

Ross

um, why not try to search the locator for someone in your area then. If you have gear, I see no real reason honestly why someone should give you a plane, since you seem to have the goods to trade for something if you wanted, also rc cars can be pricey, you could sell something to get one. Just my thoughts.

If its all in good shape, I'd say thats a good deal since a radio will cost you that price!
