I think they're all identical. However, the servos I got on my refurbished Venom NR3D had better wires (thicker, more robust) than the ones on my 22E, but the I got the Venom several months if not a year after the 22E so maybe they changed the ones on the 22E as well. Everything else was identical except for the color.

(obligatory disclaimer) I'm new to CCPM heli flying and trying to learn the ropes with a little damage as I can. Doing my due diligence with the FMS simulator and taking baby steps in actual flight. So far I've only wasted two sets of blades and one ball joint (lucky). My recent classes at the school of hard knocks have been showing promise BUT I do have this one problem. I get a sporadic shudder / vibration when the blades go through the pitch transition. No vibrations occur at spin up and it settles down once the pitch has engaged.

Blades are fresh and balanced, the flybar is balanced (and evenly spaced). Tracking looks good, everything seems tight. I did have a problem with the feather spindle (the T-Shaped holder, right?) where the pins would not stay in place but I've resolved that.

The vibration is not consistent, sometimes it spins up just fine but then the next time in the same flying session I get a vibration that is very visible on the training gear.

Is there a good guide to adjusting the head I can get a link for? I've looked at the RADD guide but didn't (yet) find the info I'm looking for.

It would be nice if there someone could share a link or advice for setting the PLT and PIT for general use as well. Currently I do it with the motors unplugged, neutralize the blades and start the pitch change at about 60% throttle. (I read somewhere that's where it should start)

Anyway - any help and links you can share I would most appreciate!

Thanks!

Jamie

Talk about BS, Eagle 50 is test flown at the factory . I would love to meet the person who preflew my Eagle this has to be the greatest Heli pilot of all time this guy can fly a rock.
Being new to RC Helicopters but not new to RC I know there is to be a learning curve that one must venture. After finding this sight and reading some great information here I was able to identify the many components that were no where near adjusted to where my Eagle 50 would fly. Last night after adjusting the sash plate blade pitch and adding 6 lbs of weght to get the CG right even my Eagle 50 mid stick nice clean hover for about 1 min then it shot across the floor and into my work bench turns out the pins in the t-cross came out . As I am looking on line at the nessary replacement parts that I now need I am trying to decided . Do I order the parts about $40.00 , or is there a better kit out there that I should buy , or do I just crush whats left of my Eagle 50 and burn $40.00 and save myself a mess of agrivation.... My air hog flys just great....:-)
Actually what I would like to know is if you lenghten the fly bar will this make the heli more stable in the air?

Check the crystals in the Tx and Rx. Pull them out, spread the pins a little bit and put them back in. Also make sure the antenna in your Tx is screwed in tight and the antenna on the Rx isn't broken.

Hi oxbow. You learn quick. I started with an Eagle 50. I dumped another $100 bucks into it before I started to wonder the same thing. So, I bought a Honey Bee Fixed Pitch heli. Much better luck. Flies better. Much tougher. Actually had fun while I learned how to fly and I didnt spend a fortune doing it. All the while though I wouldn't give up on the Eagle. (DUH!) Dumped at least another $75 into it since. Now its busted again. Needs another $30 or so this time. Well, no more. I have decided to start out with a Trex kit, then invest in a decent radio. If you are wondering if helis are for you, the HBFP is an easy inexspensive way to find out.

Hi all!

Ive been trolling for a while, reading up as much as I can. I finally ordered an Eagle 50. Once I got it, before I even fired it up, I checked the swash for level, removed the label from the motor, balanced (still a little tail heavy), turned the battery, and straightened the flybar paddles. Once that was all set, I turned on the TX, plugged in the batteries (no motors) & checked the servos to make sure everything was fine, which it mostly was. Un-plugged the battery, connected the motors plugged the battery back in & fired her up slowly. Blades seemed to be tracking fine, had to adjust the the tail trim tab to get it to move once I started adding throttle, but thats all good.

The problem I see, and it may be minor, is that when I push the control stick left, it it tilts the swash lower than it does when I push the control stick to the right.....any ideas?

Thanks,

James

Did you check that the servo arms move to roughly parallel to the ground right after it initializes?

yes, I tried adjusting everything before powering up, then again after the servos initialized. What bothers me about it is that when I push the stick right, the servo bottoms out and stops. When to the left, it bottoms out, but wants to keep going, going as far as tweaking the main shaft to the side. Is there a way to limit individual servos? Or maybe is it just a bad servo? I'll post some pics of it later today...

Thanks,
James

I had to have the servo arms pointed slightly upwards (with the Tx sticks centered) to keep them from hitting different parts of the frame at full deflection. I don't know if it's the best solution, but I didn't like the idea of them hitting the frame. You could try taking them off the frame and see if they act the same. By the way, are your trims on the right stick (assuming you're using a Mode 2 Tx) centered? A good programmable Tx will allow you to limit the travel of each individual servo as well as allow you to center the servo arm.

Ok, notice in the first pic how far the right arm drops below the red line. In the third pic you can see how far the other arm drops below the line. In the middle you can see the servo arms are even (swash is a little tilted). It wouldnt bug me if it didnt tweak the main shaft to the side...

I didnt want to take the servos out & play with them, but if I cant figure something out, im gonna have to....
Thanks,
James
