This is my Fieseler Storch from enlarged D.Bryant plans. A friend took this shot while we were at a small airport where I got permission to fly it.

I can almost see Lothar squinting down that sight! Since I can't yet legitimately put a shot of my SE5a in the Favorite Scale Models in Flight thread, I'll have to post one here.

Whow, Fletch, Your SE5 looks the business! I'm not really into WW1 that much, but the SE5 has been a favourite of mine, since the early Airfix plastic kits days.

Neil

I thought these looked pretty scale. I took these at Monster Planes a couple of weeks ago. Sorry about all the Wildcat shots, but it is one beautiful model.

Wow! Some really fantastic shots here...

Here's my latest contribution - Fokker DVII on a grass aerodrome ready for a dawn patrol.
Had perfect lighting conditions, actually an evening shot, with small hand held camera.

This past summer I finished up another scale WWI plane. It is a 1/5th scale Fokker DVII done up to represent Ltn. Jakob's plane of Jasta 43. It’s glow powered with a Super Tigre .61 two-stroke engine. I chose this particular model because I hadn’t flown in quite a while, I’d heard the flying qualities of the Fokker DVII model were quite stable and scale like, and that it would be a good flyer. The model is actually a Hangar 9 ARF that I bashed and re-finished.

I chose this particular scheme because of the crescent man-in-the-moon, and the lozenge camouflage. I really like the look of the 5-colour lozenge camouflage on the wings, and with the green and black fuselage with white stripes and all white tail it really looks sharp in the air. It’s quite amazing how easily the lozenge camouflage blends in with the background terrain.

Cheers,
Brian

Hey Brian,

great shot! and it shows that backdrop that I love...
I'll be in your area next summer again. Have been going to Ontario the last two years and have loved it from day 1. Who knows, maybe I'll see your Fokker fly...
BTW, I am German and writing to you from Germany... Great to see this piece of German heritage in Canada (although not necessarily one to be proud of. Well for the engineering: yes, for the purpose - well....)
Cheers, Martin

Hello Brian,

Many months ago you posted a great shot of the D.H.2 and I had "my way with it"

I just realized that I forgot to post what I did to it. I get bored late at night and I see something to "play" with. Hope you don't mind.
Ken.
...the one on the left is the original and then I made a faux postcard.

Thanks Martin - I'm bias but yes I really do like the Kitchener area, been here about twenty years now.
If you're in the area next summer certainly look me up.

BTW you probably already know that Kitchener was once called Berlin and we still have a solid German population in the area amongst many others. I agree with you - the engineering of these WWI warbirds is fantastic in a simplistic and functional way, too bad it was war that was the impetus...

Cheers,
Brian

Hi Ken,
Thanks again - that's pretty cool, I think I'll print up a couple of postcards to post to my buddies for Christmas and one on the wall of my workshop!
I like to do a little of that artistic photo manipulation myself using Photoshop Elements graphics program. Your sepia tone looks better than the original grey tone.
Note though that both my photos as posted are untouched, just cropped.

Cheers,
Brian
