lol Ernst thought youd deserted us haha,by the way you never did answer my questions regarding how you shape the foam hulls.like i said ive made hulls using foam blocks glued between the frames but from your pics you didnt do it that way so can you share your tecnique with us? or is it a secret lol .what kind of positive input are you talking about?is my input not positive enough for you lol?.i promise you once i start my build you will be sick of me that i can promise .
happy new year to you and everyone else!!yea i know its early but hey no harm in starting the party early cheers!!

lol hi.yes you are right it is a modified Dave Cread Slim chance.Weighs about 3.75lbs.floats weigh 110gwith cross beam mounting fitted
Sails very well, does not lack bouyancy either at the bows or floats.Very rarely capsizes unless somebody starts to talk to me when in heavy weather. Will easily see a 1m mono off in most conditions, even to windward.has been know to sail in winds gusting 30knts without capsizing.[Very hairy]The cross beams give in water but not in air is the reason it can sail on one float.they are quite stiff
for normal sailing conditions. The reason the tris pitch-pole is that the whole boats stability footprint is wrong.you must let the 3 centres of bouyancy make a good triangle.the fit in a box rule makes it more like a hinge and offers little in stability if the bows are all of a fine
nature, that is why our hulls are set forward of the centre hull.More info if required. Please remember these tris are just test beds for what makes a tri tick we can adjust most parts at the waterside including the rocker on the floats.see latest photo.

HI!
There are no secrets at all!
It is only about UNDERSTANDING all involved FORCES!

More precisely there are lots of UnderstandingS - plural - not a big SINGLE Understanding (singular)
of what is going on with a trimaran -...-

On Thuesday, 2nd February 2007 I will add a lot of new building pics of my second and third mainhull-plug,
which will show/explain the building technology I developed myself -
it doesn't need plywood crossframes + foam -

->it just needs the coordinates I allready gave to you +
+ a precise sequence of drawing these dimensions directly onto the foam block +
+ about one hour of sanding (with enough feeling for harmonic hullshapes)
+ and then glass and epoxy.

Happy New Year + a lovely Party to you!!!

from the pics it looks like the boat is just sailing on the main hull? i dont see any pics of her sailing on one float?do you have any pics or videos of her doing this?.also do you have any pics of the boat out of the water .thanks for the pics Ernst i knew it would be complicated measuring and drawing arent my strong point so ill stick to what i know.which is wood!!.

Hi Martin!

Which boat do you mean? - In these pics are more than ten different boats!

These are basically all pics I have for the moment!

(There is a DVD available, where you can see the yellow/purple trimaran sailing -...-)

Best regards, Ernst

sorry for the confusion Ernst i was talking about the boat tricat has been modifying your pics by the way are great and only feed my hunger to build one even more.i was in such a rush i forgot to add his name to my post doh!!.my point was tricat that rather than modify a mono hull sailboat by adding floats etc wouldnt the best way to go be to use a properly designed trimaran!! either from plans or a kit.i also dont see how moving the floats forward of the main hull will make much difference when the boat is sailing on one float .if that were the case then all tris would surely be designed this way?.that said if the boat sails well in 30 knots it sounds like your doing something right.id really like to see it on one float though!!.a video of it would help convince me it works .

Hi Martin!

If you still want to use the plans of the 'Nightmare Mk.VII' - >

You can build it in 3mm Balsa Stripplanking and glassing it over as well!!!

1)you just need to print the pdf-files of it!

2)use the coordinates I gave to you, to draw the side-views directly onto your buildingboard(s) - minus 3mm all around.

3) draw the cross frames directly on the 3 mm Balsa as well - again 3mm minus all around!

4) plank the hullhalves up, like you are used to.

5) After completion of the planking, remove the hullhalves from the buildingboard(s),
seal the inside(s) one time with epoxy-resin, and glue the hullhalves together.
Don't forget the reinforcements for Crossbar-attachment and shrouds.

6) after curing, sand the outsides/surfaces of the hulls, untill you are satisfied with it.
Then glass the outsides with two layers of 80gr. glass.
