Im puzzled why no one has used these cells for recievers, if I read it correctly as the full charge is only 7.2V (2 cell) you would be able to use them without regulators and they certainly have enough current ability.
Their full charge is equivalent to a full 5 cell and the cutoff is 5volts (2cell)

Am I missing something

Can I get some more info on this. I was thinking about making a receiver pack out of some rechargeable CR123A batteries I saw on ebay but didnt know if it would work. Can you make a 2 cell pack and charge it with the Hobbico Quick Field Charger and run them on a standard receiver without frying anything? Are their any specific A123 RC battery packs and charges on the market? I have just started messing around with these batteries in a 3w led flashlight and they are very impressive. They would be the best receiver battery pack if it wouldn't fry anything.

It seems the rechargeable A123's are cheap and available.

Since I posted this I checked some more and they will work, but I found the "however" and its a weight penalty.
They weigh as much as a Nimh and in a reciever app we dont need 50amps and at 10 amps or less the newer Nimhs are just fine.
So I conclude that its not worth it until the price and weight go down and the capacity goes up.
