Kahlog trust me you will be fine with the wall charger. The batts just need a full charge the brown out is 3.5v the reason it went out at 4.4 is because the batt was weak. When it browned out you checked it and it was 4.4, but what matters is what it was when you were pulling on it moving the servos with a weak batt. If the rec. sees a drop to 3.5 it will brown out. Then when the drain was taken away the batt went back to 4.4 which is pretty weak. I charge my 6 volt 2700 over night before a flying session and after 3 flights I checked with volt meter and it was at 6.6 volt, that works for me. Good luck, Kevin.

kahloq,
negative on the DC only. Mine is AC/DC. I just found it on Horizon Hobbys for 89.99. Colpar Hobbies in Denver also carries it for the same price. Go to the Horizon web site.
It''s item #DYN4053 BY DYNAMITE AT 89.99. It''s a good one at a fair price. Mine''s been trouble free for two years and it won''t overcharge. It''s also got an automatic trickle charge to keep the battery at peak if you leave it on charge. Also the ailiagator clips for charging at the field. Charges nimh, lipo and nicad.

Thanx for your input No matter how long I leave it on the JR 110mah wall charger, it wont get above 7 volts. I was expecting a little more then that(like 7.3 or so) but Captainron says his 6v battery gets to 8.35peak and then steadies to 7.5. The 7.5 is what interests me, but Im not gonna spend $130 on a charger to get that last .5volts. I did however, order a specific A/C DC wall charger(with alligator clips for dc charging) that does 4-8 cell Nimh rx packs). It only cost $29. I can live with that.
I already have portable DC lipo chargers, so getting one of those charge all type things like the Ultra Vison or the tritonII or whatever was simply not necessary.

This is the item I got and it should work just fine.

kahloq,
I went and looked at the one you bought, It should work just fine. you need the 2A out put to bring the 2500mah nimh up to peak. Takes about 30-40 minutes on mine, maybe and an hour if the bat pk is really low and drained down on amperage. The only thing I don''t like about mine, is I''m starting to want one that tells me how much amperage is going in and how much it took to totally bring it back to full charge. Gives you an excellent idea of how much you are using on each flight. JEEZ! this stuff is getting so complicated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can understand that.......but that would be the $125 dollar charger instead of the $59 one your using. Each little thing just keeps adding more money LOL. Should be used to it by now, but still hurts the wallet just the same.

I am having an issue with my retract servos. They are the 791''s and they jitter and go wild when I use a 6volt battery to test with. Plug in a 4.8 volt and they are fine.

Anyone else have this issue?? How many are using a separate battery for the retracts?

Everybody who is running a 6v Rx battery and values their airplane! Earlier this was discussed at great length. The 791''s will not operate (long) at 6v. Not rated for it, and I believe that after all of us from this thread got after them, they changed the listing on JR''s site. I may be wrong about that, but not about the 791''s. Rip or Kahloq have a double battery diagram maybe one of them will post again.

I use the same setup and it works. Two 6 volt Rx batteries, one 4.8 volt for retracts and one 4.8 for the electronic ignition.

The only reliable way you can use a 6 volt battery with the 791''s is to install a voltage regulator with it set to below 5.7volts. If your using a Futaba rx, then you need to set the voltage regulator at 5.5 or below because the Futaba rx and the 791 servos dont like eachother. The issue with the Futaba radio can occur even using a 4.8v battery if it peaks higher then 5.6v. Rip N Bank went through this whole set of issues figuring this out(the Futaba rx with 791''s not getting along with certain voltage inputs). He is using a 6v main rx as well as the 4.8v separate battery for retracts. He still had to put a voltage regulator in since his 4.8v battery would peak at 5.6 or so....once the voltage dropped below 5.5v, the retract servos worked fine.

I am also using that wire diagram method. 6v main rx with 4.8v retract batt. However, I have a JR, so i dont have to deal with the voltage regulator

This picture shows the rx switch jack and the retract switch jack. Along with that is the onboard glow charge recepticle and a fuel dot. There is a hatch door now isntalled, but its not shown in the pic

tsyssa,
I''m the odd man out! Although not recommeded, I use one 6V 2500mah to run rx and retracts. The differance is, I''m using all JR to fly Frankie. Like kahloq says, the 791''s seem to have a
