HEY CHAD,
I assume your talking about the one and only Bob F. from the ONE EIGHT AIR FORCE? If so, just got to see and fly with him at our Master Scale contest in Pueblo West, Co. Got to see t he mighty P-47 FIRE BALL fly. WOW! What a treat. Bob had to do not one but two dead sticks with her. The DA 50 did not like t he 100 degree days and it would just shut off at about half way through the flight. And Yes! Bob sure can fly 'em. Even tho, I think he still took secound in the Team class. I was a trainee in t he Static Judging and got to judge the Fireball. I'm too easy tho, I would have given Fireball 9.5's and 10's. STILL LEARNING!

BY THE WAY! I have 12 flights on my Frankie and still on the stock gear!!!! yaaaaaaa!!!!! LOL!

DANG! I LOVE THIS HOBBY.....................................................................CAPTAIN RON.

LOL!

Had two great Frankie flights back-to-back last weekend. My 220 is really revving (and barking) nicely on my low-level, WOT passes.

About fifteen flights now off of asphalt and no sign (yet) of stock retract problems (knock on wood)...

Rip

Frankie II on the bench. Got sidetracked a bit. Sold all other Saitos except the 220. Had to put a G-20 in the H9 Corsair. Trying to get out of the glow business and go all gas. Will get back on Frankie this coming week.

Interested In how that goes ,around here some of the Guys have fitted a DA 50 which seems to be very good .
Mate has a Zenoah 26cc gas ,not Flown yet as the weather has been so bad with heaps of rain ,gale winds etc, so wondering how that will be also.
Lets know .

I am not sure what guys are looking for with a DA50 in this plane. I have a G38 in my P-47 150, which is the same wingspan and size, it screams in the 80-90 mph neighborhood.
I was very skeptical about the G38 being enough but I was pleasently surprised.

Can under stand what yopu are saying , But at some of our Meets Just Imagine 6 or more war birds going down the strip together at full noise close together with battle of Britain music blaring out from behind. The noise has to be heard
Then climbing up into a reverse Immelman diving down for another pass up Into a huge loop[ followng back with a Slow roll .

Now if you do not have the power to take part in this spectacle then you are missing out . Not for all but It is great fun and much appreciated by the Spectators

I got another flight on "****" today. Also got a chance to fly with Rips "frankie". His motor is really sounding good and seems to be in a sweet spot with the 18x8 prop he's using. Mine is still running a 16x12 and honestly, it looked like Rips plane was marginally faster. His is unloading a good deal in the air, but I doubt mine is so much.
I will try a 17x10 APC prop next time it goes to the field and see. I'll also bring my Top FLite 18x6-10 prop and probably also an 18x8 MAS if I have one.

what are you guys using for servos on your flaps for frankie? I got the hitec HS645MG, but now one of them went bad, and they always appear to flutter a tiny bit when engine under full load. am kinda glad this happend on the ground because would have been ugly in the air

i kind sucks also that because am using the JR retract servos those only handle 4.8v, so the entire rx/servo system is on 4.8v where if it wasnt because of the retract servo I could be running 6v and more torque on the control surfaces.....am considering a power box now to isolate 4.8v to retracts but darn that fills like overkill for frankie where am sitting here dumping money on my 35% scale build already

You dont need a power box. Run the 4.8v for your retract servo separate from the rx. You can run the rx on 6v still. The servo extension that comes from the rx on the gear channel, you simply cut the red wire to elimiante the power coming from the rx 6v source....and run this extension to an /on/off switch that is conencted to the 4.8v batt. There is a diagram of this several pages back provided by Rip N Bank.

AS for servo for the flaps....myself, Im simply using the DS821's

thanks Kahloq....i also now realized it was mistake to get analog servo with strong torque, like the HS-645MG instead of a digital which has more holding power for the flaps......i went to a 19x8 prop and I guess now there is more airflow over those flaps and making the flutter, it all looks like the servo lacks the holding power to keep the flap surface steady......I dropped a DS8711 in there from my 35% and it doesnt move one bit, but am not goin to drop a $140 servo for a dam flap
so I think like you will just go with DS821 and stick to digitals

I still do want get the servo/rx system on 6v thou, will look for Rips diagram
