Status: offline 		I have read several threads about people have dificulty getting thier carden to range check. I had this same problem with one of my cardens, so I started to think of what all cardens have in common that other planes do not. THE SPLIT COWL, check your screws. Depending on the cowl, if the screws are too long they can rub the spark cap or wire and create RF interference.

Status: offline 		I have had two Cardens- a 35% Cap and a 40% Extra 330. No problems whatsoever.

Being familiar with the Carden construction- balsa, ply and foam with fiberglass cowl/wheepants- I cannot think of any reason why a Carden would exhibit any issues with range. Split cowls, screws, etc. are common to many designs. If your cowl screws are rubbing against your ignition wires it's not because it's a Carden- it's a build issue.

When Dave said it is a build issue he meant who ever built your particular airplane put the cowl screw there, dennis did not do it.
I would spend more time searching for the actual problem and not searching for common things to a carden.

Status: offline 		I've had engines rubbing cowls, loose cowl screws, pipes banging stuff on my Cardens and no glitches!
Any interfernce I've had on a Carden was ignition related or the long extension wires to the tail.

what is your deal. I never said anything about Dennis or his kits. I have had several, I was letting people know that you can have a problem with the split cowel if your screws are too long. In fact they do not have to be that long if you have slack in the spark wires. This was a FYI, but you my friend are out of line
