have any of you guys who upgraded the clutch still have problems with the car not shifting and gettin stuck in 1st or 2nd gear? or is the upgrade to the clutch simply to stop the clutch bell from stripping the gears and a slight performance enhancement?

i was thinkin of just switchin to a single speed transmission and not havin to worry about the car getting stuck in 1st or 2nd gear.

any opinions? or suggestions?

i would go with the direct drive single speed, i have it and love it, 1 speed is better for off road anyways

I have done the hpi clutch bell upgrade and still stripped out the the first gear, I did not do the spring yet, what else could be causing this.

Double check your gear mesh and use blue lock tite to keep screws from vibrating loose

the best way is to come up threw the bottom of the chassis. you can remove the handle temporarily to get better access

I'm running into clutch issues on my EQ with the aluminum shoes dragging. I cleaned them up with a file and replaced the spring with a new one I think it will work for a while... I was wondering if anyone has found a good replacement shoe or a complete clutch replacement for the sh .21.
Thanks.

This setup from hpi will eliminate the spring all together:
hpi #A886:  http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXVK12&P=7

Will those work on a Caldera 3.0?
It's a SH .18 Engine.
