Ignore what others say about spending hundreds of dollars to get it to run reliably.  I've steered clear of that argument for quite some time.

Just to set the record straight:

The plastic gears are NOT a quality control issue (that's been an argument on RCU).  They melt because those of us who have modified our engines cause more heat to develop inside the gear cover.  Since the heat has nowhere to go, enough heat builds up and melts the C/D gears.  Steel gears are on the way, that issue should definitely be a thing of the past.  The steel gears will probably remain an "upgrade" part.

All the upgrades that were able to be purchased as an "all in one" package is now already installed on all V2's, thats right! -

The above pic shows what is included.  I have a 27cc engine, with the DDM Dominator pipe and have yet to have a reason to even install the "upgraded" diff parts.  My V1 is pretty stout and durable, I can only imagine the V2's stepping it up one more notch.

Needless to say, my buggy was worth every penny I spent on it.  I put down a few more bucks for HPI baja hubs only cuz I wanted to be able to use the available Baja tires, there is a little bit of a variety available, and they are easier to find at hobby shops... should I need to pick up a pair on the spot!

I'm gonna say this, and I know i'm gonna have something happen now, but it's been about a year since I bought mine.  I have YET to break 1 part. *knock on wood*  lol

Those are nice trucks kryptonite5b. Are those arms plastic on the on road one? They looked like some sort of composite from the picture

Kryptonite, you have to click "post reply".  "fast reply" doesn't have the link to upload attachments.  After you click "post reply", there is a link below the text box you type in that says "Click here to upload images and files!"  (for some reason it made a link instead of text lol)

Damn that makes me seriously consider selling some cars to get a 1/5th scale. They are so sick.

Here's a few...

Got two XTM X-Cellerators in there... The nitro just blows the Tornado BB away... I bought it for my older Brother, (30), and he broke it by running it into a curb. I'm in the process of fixing it for him now...

All stock! Man, these things were so clean out of the box!!!

Here's my baby with all of the upgrades done... She's a beaut!

That's all for now. I have too many pics of tearing it down, rebuild... I'm thinking about snatching up a Backdraft. Can't decide if I want a RC10 GT or Traxxas either.

Well, I tighten all screws every time after I run, but I didn't know the screws would back out of these aluminum arms as much as they did, and I lost a dogbone... No biggie, the thing still runs better than ever, even with 3-wheel drive! I'll go pick up a few sets at the hobby shop in a few days.

I used loctite today to take care of them all, and they haven't budged. I'm so happy that nothing has moved or broken! Took them out a few minutes ago, and still have to tune-in the girls. Her's is running way to rich, and she doesn't care. As long as it runs for her, she's happy!

Do newer Vortex come with those tires? They look like what is on the Exceed short course truck. My Vortex came with the tornado tires. Also, is that a slash sticker for the bed area with the fans and fuel cell?

Redcat sells 2 types of RTR Vortex Trucks 1 The EPX PRO is a Brushless and has diff tires. 2 The EP model has the bigger tires (shown in pictue) and has a brushed motor and is about half the cost. I believe the EP brushed model is IDENTICAL to the Exceed Rally Desert Truck only diff I could see was the Graphics on the Body. As for the fan artwork Yes I used the Traxxas Sticker as a guide but re-created the graphics (I used Corel Draw) Created my own stickers to custom fit the smaller body space on the smaller Vortex area. If you tried to just use the original size of the Traxas from the Slash, they would not fit well or look right.

Glad you like it.

Its funny. I have one in my office out of the box so I can look at it while I am working. I love how the body and graphics came out. It has become my favorite Redcat.

Post some video when you get some time and have a great time with it.

Wow some really nice cars out there.

Not sure if many post this RedCat though.

Here's my Tornado EPX all stock, and except for the receiver, all original. I love the way it works all around, handling, acceleration, top speed, etc.
