I agree tornadoguy, the brushed ones are great, top speed isnt the best for speed runs but its plenty fast for off roading, or on tight tracks like my local one. But i kept smokin motors so i went brushless and its amazing.

Do you have any better specs on the motor? Can the ESC handle an upgraded motor?

Wow those are some great pix!! NICE CUSTOM PAINT JOB!! that has to be without a doubt the best looking Redcat body paint job. Most of my Vortex's are trashed from the Arizona Sun melting them when I race at the the track. There Lexan does not stand up to the heat very well. its abit Ironic because Redcat headquarters are rigt here in Phoenix. here are a couple pix of My Lighted (but melted and warped) Body Vortex and my Aftrershock. All of the fans and grill stickers were created by me although I admit I copied the Traxxas Slash stickers because the are the most realistic for short course trucks. Unfortunately I can't find any "Clear" Bodies for my Trucks so i can only add on to the "stock" (print) paint job they provide. You should enter it in RC Trading Post (an on line RC store) they have paint contest all the time and I am sure you would win.

I have many I could list but its not right if they are for customers - anyways I will have posts on here for the redcat with a racebody - should looke great I hope
The site shows from redcat is 525 but in person is 535 which is the same as the slayer slash. Still very nice truck dude - ours will be here next week.

No doubt and look at those paint jobs this guy is GOOD! But just remember 1/5th scale RC's are not allowed on the tracks. Hows your new Vortex doing? I love putting that lipo battery in that little guy, I have alot more controll than the Aftershock at this point. Drew (the Traxxas dude) won't race me with the Vortex because with the Lipo Battery he don't stand a chance.

How is the aftershock holding up on the track? Hows the handling?
Which bodies are only $20?

Well for some reason as yet unknown my Transmitter (controller) wont't communicate to the motor at our local speed track. But it works just fine anyplace else. Right now i am a bit out of controll because I am not used to that kind of power. My first 2 Trucks purchased were Traxxas Slashes and they are much slower (stock) and only 2WD and handle quite differant. The Aftershock has less ground clearance so the low center of gravity coupled with more weight in front (motor is mounted there) is taking some time to get used to but boy does this Truck move! Also the 4WD allows it to grip much tighter in the turns but I am not so good with large double jumps yet. I am used to the Traxxas so I insinctively resort to how I drove them. I hardly ever flip even with all that speed. I was contantly overturning my Slashes even at half that speed thier high center of gravity requires finess when you turn it. But I LOVE this Truck! You would have to spend at least 3 times as much with other brands to get so much power and speed.

As for the $20 Bodies my friend was talking abouth the 1/10th Vortex's Bodies. I am not sure what the Body price is for the Aftershock is, but I will probably be needing one in the near future so when I get one I'll let U know. Or you can also go to Redcats Website and type in this part #BS804-002 and it should tell you.

Are U thinking about getting the Aftershock? You get alot of bang for your buck. I also love the Vortex just as much and you can get a RTR for only $175.00 at RC Trading Post web site. They also have a brushed motor version for around $110.00 They are slower but still a great value

I have all nitro right now but Ive been looking into an electric truck. Thats when I found the aftershock. I like the fact that it comes with the brushless and the lipos. I wasnt sure about the 4wd though. I know all the other SC trucks are only two wheel drive. Im 99% sure I wont be actually racing but it would be nice to be able to if the opportunity arose.
Is there a big difference in the handling compared to the 2wd trucks?
How are the stock servos? I know the ones on my tsunami were pretty weak

To answer your Q about the handeling for me there is a big diff. But then again I am not a very experienced driver so you may find the 4WD to be no big deal. But for me I still lack controll and need to adjust to the heavier front end and all wheel gripping power. The best thing is you will hardly flip at all as I said before I will flip my Slash at half the speed with the same turn radius. I have a freind who favors Traxxas and he likes the truck and is considering buying one someday. His Slash is faster than the Aftershock because he has major upgades (Brushless motor is larger Lipoi att ect ect) So if he likes it that says alot. Plus the Owner of our local race track has bought one and now sells them in the hobbie shop as well. And he is a MAJOR AE loyalist.

Are the transmission gears metal or plastic?
Would you be able to take any detailed pictures?

Ya mark its holdin up great, i ran it with the 7 cell last night but it was gettin a little hot, so i stopped. I think those batteries we were runnin at the track were goin dead or something cause it was scootin pretty good, that or im just used to the brushless torque and speed. Im wantin new shocks for it, cause i actually noticed when i was rebuildin the shocks for you that the rears are a little weird. If you take a look at the arms, there are three holes for the shock to go on the back, but two on the front, and all my others that i have like my nitro volcano and the electric volcano have only two holes on the rear. Well when you put it on the inside hole, the top of the shock, where it snaps onto the shock tower, doesnt go all the way, you gotta force it just a tad to go. And i didnt like that cause that means its puttin extra wear on it, so i put it in the middle hole, but you lose like a 1/4 inch of ground clearcance. So im runnin it like that, but if i get the big bores like on my electric volcano the shocks are a bit longer so i can get full travel.

I love 4wd over 2wd, my buddies 2wd rustler couldnt be ran at full throttle even on the street without loosing control, but maybe its cause im not used to it haha. And the associated sc8 is actually 4wd, so it can compete with them, the owner of mine and marks track who owns one said he was gonna race with it i think.

That's a good question and I should know the answer but don't quote me onthis yet but I think one gear is brass and the other is plasstic. I know it's lame of me not to know that but I am just a newby so I am not 100% certain but I will find out and get back to U when research it. I will also take some pix and try to get as much detail as I can but I only have a stansard digital camera.

I think 2WD is harder to keep straight at high speeds going staigt especially on pavement. I know my freinds super fast slash is always fliping end over end at even the widest curves when he at race speed.

I am cleaaning it at the moment but when I get it put back together I will take some shots as best I can. My camera is just your basic digital so I am limited on the close ups but I will get as detailed the focus will allow.
