Is there any performance gain between a fully moulded model and a well built traditional type model (Balsa fuselage and foam wing)?

Nope.

It's all about having a true airfoil and a good surface finish. How you get there is irrelevant. Most of us get there by writing a check to the guy who owns the mold. Karl Marx was right!
