Hi Chris.

I'm gradually learning what the different expressions mean.

Thanks.

Hi guys,

I'm posting this for a friend of mine Juan Rodriguez, he has a ASM C-130.

Juan is looking for 4 GMS .32's engines that are in good condition that can be used in the C-130, any one have anything they want to sell ?

I also have a question about using .40 size engines, would they be too big for the C-130 ?

Thanks
Ulf

Hi ulfenator,
forget the 40-engines, they are too big and too powerful and will damage the nacelles if model fies often. My 32's have enough power as you can see in the video at take off. I think this model needs not more power, it needs every time good flight speed. - Hope this was a help for you.
regards
HD

Zerberus,

Thank you for the info regarding the 40's..... and thank you Ulfenator for posting for me this morning...... my employer blocks certain web sites , RCU being one.... imagine the nerve of them to do so !!!

Anyhow, I have "acquired" an ASM C-130 and I'm toying with the idea of putting it together and flying it...... a couple of nites ago, I stumbled onto this thread and half way through the 10 pages, I was ready to put the kit up on Ebay..... I'm glad I read through to the end as I now feel more confident that the ASM will fly just fine if the pilot excerices due respect !!

I am not 100 % certain that I will go through with the build and may decide to sell it at a VERY ATTRACTIVE PRICE but in the mean time, I'm looking for 4 GMS 32 motors perhaps from someone that did own, fly , crash (or whatever) this airplane and has the motors available for sale. BTW, I also have the scale retracts designed for this model. Everything is BRAND SPANKING NEW and the hardware bags have NOT been opened.......

If I can get the motors reasonable, I'll probably proceed..........

So........here's the bottom line...............

If you have 4 motors that you're looking to sell, please contact me.......

If you want to consider a KILLER DEAL for this airplane and the scale retracts, please contact me..........

THANX !!!

Juan:

If you want to see some video's of my C-130,then go to you tube.com Look for this video's:

"Maiden flight of a Giant Scale C130"

"Jimmy's Giant C130"

Am using 2- OS 40'FS engines on the inboards and 2-Saito 30's FS engines on the out boards..Have onboard glow for all 4 engines...This is a must( Onboard glow)....half a dozen flights on it and still going strong..no tendency to stall on turns...Have been using about 2/3's throttle on final turns for landing...Still coming in a little to fast,so next time up,will try 1/2 throttle in the final turns, with 15 degrees flaps......Only weak point I can see is the landing gear...broke a leaf spring on the second landing.but friend of mine spot welded it and it's OK now...Forgot to mention,Have brakes on it..they do work....

Good luck with yours......

Jimmy,

Thanx for posting. I saw your video. Your C-130 looks great in the air !! Those landings were "hot" so I can see why you want to slow that approach a bit with less throttle and some flaps..... Is there any way at your field to do a longer approach so that you can put those flaps in while on final instead of downwind or base leg ?? Just a thought as reading through these threads leads me to conclude that slowing this plane with flaps while making your turns is a bad idea.....

Anyhow, good luck next time up and make sure to video and report back if you can....

Juan or anyone else looking for four GMS 32's,
I have four GMS 32's that survived the crash of my ASM C-130 "with zero damage". Total of three flights plus bench run for break-in. I believe them to be in excellent condition. They look new. See my earlier posts about my experience with the ASM C-130. Tower Hobbies sells the GMS-32 for $64.99 but they are backordered until late December. I will sell them for $45 each, total $180 plus $15 flat rate shipping to the continental USA. If within three days after you receive them, you are not happy with with your purchase, return them to me at your expense, and I'll fully refund your money. If you are interested, please contact Jerry at jersue01@comcast.net. Thanks.

Juan:

Will fly again next year...It's winter time.....C-130 is put to bed for the winter.....As for the flaps, use only 10 degrees in turns, then use full flaps on final....will try 30 degrees next time out......BTW, on board glow is highly advised....haven't had an engine out yet......good luck..........

Juan,

Do you still want to sell the C 130?
