What are your empty weights on the finished Corsair and where is your CG in the 3 3/4 - 4 1/8 range as in the CMP manual?

I am at 13.2 lbs without fuel and the CG is at 4" for a balance with the wheels retracted (inverted) when the wheels are extended then it is a little nose heavy.

Already talked to Darrell at Sierra and he said order the 95 because many of the customers that got the 100's and put them on the CMP stated they raked so far forward, they looked like training gear.

Does anyone have any other comments on this or some pictures of either 95 or 100 degree retracts?
I am thinking that if they do not look to "off". the 100 degree retracts may make for a more stable plane on landings and takeoffs, less likely to nose over?

Darrel send me also the 95 degree retracts. The center of the wheels is app. in the same level than the edge of the wing. That means app. 100 mm in the front of the CG. I am not flown with mine, but in my opinion it should work.
Let me know if you need a picture.

Eifel,

Thanks for the comment and info.
If you could post a picture of the plane looking from the side I would much appreciate it.

TIA,

I have found that as nice as the finish is on this plane it is quite delicate and easily marred.
Also have already lost a decal when it stuck to the inside of the packaging plastic and peeled off.

I am wondering if anyone has applies some sort of a matt finish to their plane to protect the finish and decals from fuel exposure and scuffing during handling?

I would like to use some sort of spray bomb matt clear that will not harm the finish but will be resistant to fuel.

Any ideas?

You are right. The wheels facing the wrong way. During the installation I had the opinion that the air adapter of the retracts have to show inwards. During the first retract in the down position I noticed the wrong position. I will change the retracts in the next days.

I have forgotten an important question.
The next step for me will be the engine installation. How does it look with the side pull and down throw ( I do not know the correct translation ) of the engine. Is there already something adjusted at the firewall or will it be necessary to give the engine some degree.

Would be great to get some information around that issue.

You should be able to tell if the firewall has offset in it by looking straight down on it from above. It cant hurt anything to put a couple of washers on the left side mount holes to put in a little right thrust.
