It looks to me like your going to have trouble with the muffler being to close to the cowl as it is.

Keep us posted I'd love to see the video.

I thought I'd post it here instead of ressurecting an older thread about it. I needed a bit of clearance to get my G2300 stock muffler out of the way of the cowl I'm building on a 4star 120. Instead of going with a pits muffler, I ordered an exhasust extension for an os 120. The bolt spacing is 47mm on the os and 46.3mm on the G2300. the bolts that come with the extension are just a little too short. I replaced them with 6-32 threaded rod from the hardware store. 6-32 is thin enough that I didn't need to expand the holes in the extension at all. I used lock nuts and washers on each end and even though there is a bit of play in the assembly while loose, tightened down and using gasket sealant it is rock solid.

The only downside is the cost. $20 from Tower is pretty pricey......

I got my 2300 on the bench yesterday for its intitial break in, and did all the peliminary things to get it broken in correctly. By the end of a gallon of fuel, I started to fine tune it and put an 18x6 MA wooden prop on it. I have gotten the idle down to a consistant 1900, (can idle @ 1820, but I didn't feel comfortable that low) timed 30 seconds then slam to WOT and it revs right up, without any hestitation. I am only getting 7740 max RPM with this prop combo (that is peak RPM before richening the high speed 300 rpm lower)
That seems very low, even though I know the engine will gain power as it is run in, but that is a recommended prop according to the Tower Hobbies tech notes. I will prop it down a little for the flight break-in.
While doing the break-in, I noticed an air leak around the o-ring @ the carb. I put a better o-ring on it and sealed it with high-temp RTV gasket maker. I also took the flimsy o-ring off of the muffler and sealed it with the RTV as well. I do notice a little fuel leak at the high speed needle, but I haven't messed with that yet.
I think it seems worthy to mention that I used 10% Omega for the break-in.

Should I be trying to get the RPM's up higher than what I am seeing? Would 5% nitro be a better fuel for this engine?

The 17X6 or 16X10 is the proper size prop for the 2300. My 2300 will rev to 9000 with a 17X6 and the transition is much better.

I have a super tirge 3000 on a 84 inch Kavalier that the plans where blown up from 40 size plans. The engine has about a gallon of 10% byron fuel ran in it. The mid-range is real rich and I read that you could turn the spray bar to help that. Also lean the needles some. Could anybody tell me which way to turn it and will that help? I am running a 18x6 wood prop and think I need to go bigger. Also running a Macs header pipe and mousse can muffler. Any advice welcome.Wayne M.

Thanks, buzzingb- I will try both.

Bigshark,

I went to Sears Hardware and purchased some stainless steel machine screws, nuts and lock washers, I think they are 8x32". I woul use the largest bolt I could get throught the muffler holes. They cost me less than $2.

I rotated the spraybar on my ST3000 today and ran it. It helped it a lot. I had to turn it counter clockwise to lean it. I now have a good idle and mid-range is a little rich, but not bad. I still have the top end rich to finish breaking in the engine. I wanted to post this to help anyone who needs to lean the mid-range. Looking at the top of the high speed needle I turned it to the left. Wayne M.

Hello to the ST club..........just wanted to stop in and say I have 2 Tigers on .45 in a twist 40 and a Italian S2000 in a Twist 150 they both run great with a little tuning the run superb. I am running a 18x8 on the 2000 and a small 10x7 on the 45. I have had great luck with both. I do have another one here but nothing to put it in, I have the 3000 Italian also. Any input on a good frame for this big Tigre.

UPDATE:
I have run this engine some more, and changed props to a MA 16x10. The max RPM with that prop is 8220. I also tried a 16x8 with the same reading. I then switched fuel to 5% nitro with no change in max RPM.
The problem I am experiencing is at the carb. It went from a little leak at the high speed needle to a big leak. The high speed adjustment is almost unresponsive. (at least 2 whole turns on the high speed needle to richen it up 200 rpm) The question now is how do I seal the o-ring to make it effective, and quit leaking, or do I buy an after market carb?
There is an old saying: You can polish a turd, but in the end, its still a turd.

Has anybody tried the Jett carb on this engine?

Have you checked the carb channels and orifices for metal flashing (material incidentally left behind during machining)?

When properly finished, these carbs are great carburetors. Like any other carb, when not finished properly, they can be useless. I would give the distributor a chance to straighten out the carb. Get them on the phone and go over the engine.

Thanks for that bit of reasoning, Ed. My frustration is starting to get the better of me.
I have only pulled the high speed needle from the carb, other than that, no I haven't checked for anything else. You are right, I should give it a good going over before jumping the gun. I will do just that.

Thanks

I am thinking of purchasing the Super tigre 3250, but I noticed that it does not come with a muffler. Where can I get a muffler for this beast??
