JTEC says they have a muffler to fit at $50 for the ST3000. Heres the link.

Bisson also makes the 2000,2500,3000,3250 size and will fit the 6000 too. Here is the link.

Hi just word of advice, I found the j-tec muffler robbed the 300 of around 550 rpm compared to a large os std muffler. I ended up maling my own pitts style and picked up 450-500 over the j-tec, and was quieter too. A pity I no longer have the plane or i'd post pics

I appreciate the input. I have a stock ST Muffler on order for the 3000, but after almost 60 days, still no joy. I may wind up experimenting with various bits and pieces. The Bisson muffler looks promising also - there's no telling what I will wind up with, but I want something that my 3000 is happy with, then I'll start looking to make the 6000 happy.

I run a 2300 and 3250 and am very pleased, but they both came with stock ST mufflers. Not so with the 3000 and 6000...

I have s s3000 that the muffler broke off the crankcase mounting holes,so I am looking for a s3000 crankcase but they are no longer available. Now my question is am I better off to get a new g3250 or to try to find a new s3000 at some store? Thanks for any replies.

if your internals are good you could find a used one and rebuild, or find a good alloy welder and repair yours. I have done both successfully cheers johnno

the magnifying glass worked well..the chamfer is on the same side as the dimple on the GS45 conrod, I thought I would have noticed that dimple had it been facing the back when I took the back plate off..which confirms what N1EDM said when he took his back plate off.

cant wait for the replacement to arrive..I'll get her run in then do some mods to the engine and see how they fair

The thread size is 1/4-32 NSF. In the United States people will send the head to Clarence Lee to get a Heli Coil insert put in the plug hole to repair the threads.

W8YE, in post 885, has the answer for you. Send the head to Clarence Lee for repair. It will most likely be less expensive than buying a new head, if you can even find one.

Take the head off of the engine before you send it. If you send him the entire engine, he will have to charge you extra to disassemble and reassemble it.

Bob
