Ok everyone the cat is out of the bag…….

My name is Robert but it is my middle name, and I have been posting these photos for someone else. That someone, my friend, has asked that I go ahead and tell everyone the truth as to who is actually doing this build. At first, he did not want me to start this thread but I felt it was important enough to show everyone so I talked him into it. I started the thread under an alias of 260 man from Oxfordshire in the UK; I once had an assignment to an Air Force Base there. I did this to protect his identity from people such as the mockers of this post. Those that know more than anyone else and their way is the only way. We all know who they are!! For those of you that have supported the efforts of this build, I apologize for not telling you sooner, but just as I predicted the mockers came out in full force.

Truth is the builder of this sweet model is Robert (Bob) Sawyer from San Antonio, TX. Bob is the same person that built the 70% Staudacher. He has been in the business of building both full scale and remote control models for more than 30 years. He is a master craftsman we all enjoy learning from.

So there it is, the truth is told. Sit back and enjoy the thread…………..

Did the 70% Staudacher ever fly???? I saw lots of pictures of it on the ground and then heard it was for sale (at about the price of a decent used Pitts S2B - FULL SCALE). Would love to see pics/video of it in the air.

At least you are an experienced keyboard pilot!

What have you ever done that is so great that gives you the right to post nasty comments?

I think it is obvious why they did not want anyone to know who was building the plane!?.

You guys crack me up. Good luck with the project!

oh... and Bob, I could use a few pointers to pull weight off of high density sheeted foam, could you post up a few more pictures of your stabs and wings? (Jason knows what I need - prototype 2 needs a diet and is about to go in the bag)

I don't get it? Why would you (who ever "you" happens to be....at this point we still don't know who 260 man is or whether or not 260 man and Sensei are one in the same) not want to create this post as the the actual person who's building the plane?

I figured something was up with all the photoshoping. As modeler we care a lot about how our planes fly and how they look but none of us care about how messy our shops look in the middle of a build (or for that matter don't care what our wives think of our messy shop )

By the way, how did this diet go? Has it been flown yet?

P.S. As I posted earlier, best of luck reaching your goal.

Ok guys, not a lot of visual progress today but a big step completed. Plus the weather sucked it was cold and raining all day. Makes a person not want to do much at all.

Bob worked on the vertical fin and rudder today combined they only added 10 oz.

Today we put the wing and stab tubs in both the 330 and Bob's new 260. As I held the wing tub, Bob applied a twisting motion on the stab tube. Trust me when I say this, there was Very little at all

Today was spent cleaning up the different areas of the fuse and getting it close to the point of covering......(still a lot to do before it is at that point)
There were some concerns about the area around the horizontal stabs. After careful thought Bob decided to add a carbon fiber tube between the two L bracket blocks that holds the stabs on. After installing this tube, which by the way added NO weight, I tried to compress these two blocks......... I could not........... Lots of strength at no added weight cost...........
