Got some bling on the Savage, I moved the shift point to a higher rpm point and she really winds out nicely. I bought a set of RRP gears to bring her back to a normal ratio.

Motor mounted onto the motor mount bracket.

The grub screw up front is one of the updates to the Savage X SS kit. This keeps the motor from twisting forward under high torque situations.

Hi TEX,

I intend to upgrade my engine mount using the HD version. However it does not have a front screw similar to new stock engine mount. Do you think it is worth my money to buy that?

Thanks!

Well it all depends. I assume HPI updated the mount for the 4.6

Basically that screw helps keep the front of the motor from flexing down under a heavy load.

If that mount is made of soft alum you may have issues. I think it is more for bling than functional and you won't see any noticable change in temp from those fins.

Nice!

Also, I bought some "lightened" idler and Aluminum Drive gear to lightened my central tranny, do you think it really lessens the rotational mass of the transmission?

It took me about two days to build it off and on. I used a Futaba 3010 on throttle and a Futaba 3305 on steering. I now use a Hitec 5645 for steering and a Novak XXTRA Rx.

The TQ radio will work just fine, but I recommend a high-torque servo for steering. A medium torque servo like the 3010 will also help with throttle control, but a standard servo will work until you can get one. I also recommend you upgrade the Tx when you can. I use a Futaba 3PM.

That's also good, but you still need a high torque servo for steering. You should think about buying a nice radio once instead of buying a cheap radio you'll have to eventually upgrade.

Do this, PM turbotb0205, he is a friend of mine. Tell him I told you to PM him and let him know you are looking for an inexpensive radio with a high torque servo for your Savage. He always finds great deals on radio systems. I'm sure he'll be able to find you something.
