Hey John F man just try to stick the pieces back together with CA and then epoxy support strips over the breaks. It'll be fine.

Well To fly that thing was like trying to fly a see saw with 1 person on one end, thats about the best way I can explain it, if it wasn't for the 61 FX it probably wouldn't have recovered.

It would take me a day to try and answer all the replys over the last few days but man you guys had me rolling with some of those comments... I never even thought about being missing,, so Waldos right here LOL

It was nice to feel the shaky leg thing again it is probably the best hovering and Harrier machine in the world once I get it balanced better, The CG was around 7, but I didn't want to open it up to add the weight, it needs to be like 3, I couldn't trim it at all as I had to constantly keep putting in up and down elevator to keep her going, on low rates she had no response and it was a very fine line to get it to sit steady for a second for breathing purposes,, but all in all I think I just need to put about 8 lbs in the nose and she should be good to go, plenty of throw control but it was very tail heavy, I decided to give it a go anyway.. and I was very happy with the results,, Now of everything i have ever flown,, this is definitely the most challenging plane I have ever had to control.

But she lived to try again... and we will LOL,, Yes I'm a dumb A## LOL but man that was the most fun I've ever had with a plane.

The weather guy was way off base,, it was a beautiful moring,,, about 8 -10 mph breeze at times but thats nothing.

The gig went great got home at 3am and was up to maiden at 6:30am and on my way home from the maiden flight I lost the Alternator I think on my van so I broke down, got a jump, and came into the driveway like the twipe came in,,, lol on its last hoorah, so tomorrows job is to find out whats up with that.

All in all a great day and I can't thank you all enough for pushing me through this thing,, what a blast......

Anyone want to buy a Twipe $99.00 X 3 lol

LInk NOW there is the perfect combo the twripe and the BCMA on the front to balance her.
    GREAT FLYING WALDO.
Waldo if you have a Volt Meter With the engine running look at your PWR wire on the ALT then look at you Batt you shold have 13.5 at both ends If not then we need to look at your field wires. if all that looks good then It's your Batt. If you have 13.5 at the alt but not at the batt post then it's your cable end

OK Waldo EXCELLENT Show. I'm no computer wiz but this is for you (click on attachment). I just thought I would show some pictures of our runway, It is our back yard, 330' long & 300' wide.
notice the windsock behind our house. The OldLady has been painting lately so I thought I would show off her work.

DT ... Thanks for the offer to send over a prop. I just have to get enough things on my wish list to make it worth while getting a package over from Tower. Thanks anyway. As far as our mean temp is concerned according to my atlas it is 55º - 60ºF. In real terms the coldest overnight low we would get is about 34ºF and hottest we get is about 86ºF. ( I guess thats pretty mild in international terms )We do get plenty of rain and wind. The South Island of NZ seems to have a lot more extreme climate.
Re. 61FX in the T_ _ _t. With the 61 mounted I had to move the battery back and add a little weight to the tail to get it to balance the same as the 70FS at 4 5/8. Even with the12 x 6 prop on it was awesome to fly. So effortless and responsive and man could it haul a$$ if asked to. I had reliability issues with the motor (3 dead stick landings ) but still had a blast with it. It looks like it might be a little easier to hover for some reason.
As a matter of interest what servos are you guys using? I am just using standard JR ones and I wonder if I may be handicapping myself. Do I need to go digital?
2HI...How do you manage the time to mow all that grass, post so much on this thread, build planes and still have time to fly. Oh thats right you get the boss to paint the house . I guess with all that space wind direction is not a problem.

Yakko, I am using Futaba 3004 BB ( Just a standard servo) I'm using the dubro long control arms is all, nuthin' fancy. If you cut out a hatch behind the wing saddle for the battery and put the receiver under the wing Bolt down plate, you can get her to balance around 4.5 - 4.75 without having to add any weight to the plane.

2Hi2c those are some pretty dangerous words to put in writing.. lol. remember,,,, we all have to sleep sometime.

Yakko, I had some JR 537s on my old PNP T-T, which seemed to be plenty for this little plane. However, this time around, I decided to go with some Hitec HS635HBs, which are quite a bit more torque, but MUCH faster. They seem to slow down a little bit as they reach the stick position, almost like they hit like a blanket of air (if that makes sense), but I think the extra speed and torque will make her a little more responsive.

Futaba 3004 servos, Dubro heavy duty arms, 2000mAh 4.8v battery, stock landing gear and wheels, Sullivan tailwheel, and most importantly........the outstanding O.S. .61FX! Yakko........did you say you're having RELIABILITY problems with the O.S. .61FX? ( I must have misread your post.) What seems to be the problem? You're performing the "pinch test" aren't you? I've only experienced problems when doing outside loops.......it runs so exceptionally perfect other than that I don't bother with figuring out where in the fuel-delivery system the problem exists!

    Quick question on the Twipe

Does anyone know or think maybe its just too top heavy besides being tail heavy?

my concern is adding weight or moving it so the nose is heavier and then not being able to pull out of the dive.

If you've seen how it forces itself into a nose dive at times from a hover or straight flight, I think you'll know what I mean. (a very abrupt water fall actually) it can almost loop on the CG axis.

I doubt there's really a top-heavy problem. Maybe a top-drag problem though. Might require some downthrust to keep it from wanting to pitch upwards.

I have a slow cub that when I first got it a set up about 2 inches too tail heavy. It flew a lot like your Tripe. I think you will be okay. There are some unknowns here with all that wing area, but it sure flew like a severely tail heavy plane, very pitchy and very hard to control.
