    Kerwin, im running 15% Omega. I can get it through the club for a pretty good deal, and its also what most of the hobby shops sell. I have not seen any 20% in any of the hobby shops. Its either 15 or 30 heli. I was hoping it would do well on 15. I didnt want to pay $28 a gallon for 30% like I did when I was racing offroad with my girlfriends son. That gets pretty expensive.

    All I ever use is 15% not that its the best but it does everything I ever need it to do.

    Fshawn you should be able to hang that girl on the prop for sure, I hope you get it worked out.

    I think the Twipe had a CG of about 13 LOL

    lol.. It's 91F here.

    I ran 2 tanks of break-in through my twist. I got to half throttle by the end of the second tank and ... wholy crap, this thing will have PLENTY OF HORSEPOWER. Granted, I didn't have the wing on it, but it was trying to pull vertical at under 1/2 throttle, spewing smoke and oil all over the place.
    That 15" prop hanging off of the front looks absolutely huge also.

    I LOVE IT!!!

    Time for a report from down under.
    Regular unleaded now around $ 5.90 US per gallon. Although oil prices are coming down our dollar has weakened against the US, causing the rise. Store bought glow fuel is around $38US per gallon of 10/20. We mix our own and get it to around $24US per gallon.
    Yesterdays temps were around 34°F in the morning rising to about 62°F during the day.
    At last report I was having problems with the 61FX deadsticking. I put this down to a hasty installation of an engine that hadn't run for a long time. Since then I cleaned out the fuel lines and carb and then had another 4 dead sticks from 5 flights. Next step was to replace all the fuel lines and refit the 70FS to fly over the weekend while I stripped down the 61 completely down. I found nothing untoward but I always wonder if we get air leaking through the 2 carb mounting screw holes. The motor ran sweet for a while but still was not real happy on the test bench and I noticed that when held vertical a lot of oil came out of the muffler. I then ran it at low revs until it appeared to load up. Holding held it vertical again alot of oil came out and it seemed to clear itself.
    Having done the strengthening and hatch thing behind the wing seat I put it all back together and went flying, making sure I did plenty of nose up flying, and didn't have a single deadstick.
    I can't be sure if this is the problem. Does it ring any bells for you guys? The oil I am using is 18% cool power pink.

    Yakko, sounds like you are having great weather down there. It also sounds like you may be a little rich on the low end. Try the pinch test.

    By the pinch test do you mean to pinch the fuel line between the main jet and the carb? If it speeds up the bottom end is too rich. If this is what you mean then yes I have done that and it doesn't change the revs for ages then increases by a very small amount before stopping.

    Yakko......this isn't a new engine, is it? I'm using Wildcat %15 without ever having a problem. I hope this stuff doesn't go bad over time as I still have 32 gallons of the stuff! (My ol flying buddy and I bought the stuff by the pallet-load and when he passed away I inherited his.) Have you tried a hotter plug? Is the oil contaminated with carbon particles? Incomplete combustion, perhaps? I've always relied on the pinch test and the results are almost instantaneous. It's too bad you can't take a video of it running and let us have a listen for ourselves..........or can you? Good luck.

    Did you look at the ring and cylinder for any possible damage?

    No. I bought this engine preloved on a Cap 232. It hasn't done alot of work and went OK on the Cap until old numb thumbs here rekitted it. There doesn't appear to be any crash damage to the engine.

    Yea plowboy is right. Sounds to me like it is actually waaaaayy rich on the low end. So much so that its loading up the bottom end where you can "pour" it out when it dies.

    Pinch test for low end and high end.....

    Engine dies immediately shows an adjustment just on the "ragged edge" of being to lean.

    Looooong delay, then a change in pitch before dying shows a way rich condition.

    Just a second or a few seconds before pitch change shows a pretty accurate setting.

    YAKKO, IF it takes a long time to die then you are definately too rich on low end. It is running out the fuel that has loaded up in the crankcase. Just go in 1/8" at a time until you get a great transition after a prolonged idle (30 seconds to 1 minute). Then try the pinch again.

    Glad to hear you guys are flying. I have been stuck with electrics and flying at the school. Saves on gas to stay within a couple mile of home. Been a breezy Spring so far. Seems to get calm the hour before sunset. That is the best.
