I Did that same Mod. to a Royal P-38 in about 1983. The flat spin was not planned and the Fox 45s were screaming trying to pull it out. Yes it is a very easy Mod. to do and really looks cool when your doing it. 30 Min. on 11oz---WOW.

I've heard alot of talk about the new "150" and have been itchin' to see one. Went down to my LHS today because one of the kids who works there said they got one in. So I fired up the ol' suv and went for a drive (and rather quickly at that before the wife asked what I was up to ). Boy was I bummed when I got there and went looking for it, the owner said as soon as he saw it come in, wait... wait... wait... HE SENT IT BACK!!! AAAARRGGGHHH!!! I asked him why the hell he did that and to my astonishment he told me "I'd have never sold that thing". I said "do you not know my spending habits by now??? How many things have bought because I have an itchy trigger finger? Have I not bought things because I don't need them? Oh well, maybe next time. Maybe I should wait until I have a few repirs to do first and can actually claim I need a new plane. What am I thinking! How stupid of me! There are other hobby stores! Well, we'll have to see if I can actually keep the wallet in the pocket if I come across one.

jwk72, I know what you mean about impulse buying. I have a few big planes and by the time you buy a big engine and big servos, the cost has gotten a little out of hand. I think that shop owner should have kept it on the shelf for a few weeks just to see what happened. Maybe if he did that, he couldn't then send it back.

I wondered what happened on why I wasn't getting messages that there were new postings on the T***T thread...GEEZ!
You talk about an inpule buyer, look at my avatar. . .
Just wanted to let you all know that I finally SOLO'd today with my Joe Bridi "aircrusier" that I scratch built. Must admit it was a little easier to do that my fears led me to beleive. Don't know if any of you have heard of Garret morrison ( former world freestyle champion), but he's a member of the local flying club in Lodi, Ca. I asked him to madien the ship and take it for a few laps around the pattern and trim it out. he went one time around the feild, and then looked at me and said "it's all yours". I was ready to pee my pants, but fello flyers were all standing around and giving me encouragement. took it a few times around, felt the responsiveness of the controls, and then told the group that this was going to be first landing in a gas powered model. lite wind with surges (too soft to be a true gust of wind) so I held it up on downwind and kicked it over into slight bank to line up on the centerline. altitude bled off in bank as it built up a little speed. I can see where having a head wind is a good thing, as my plane didnt want to slow down too much.
I came out of the turn a tad bit high, but chopped the throttle and gave it a little down to get under the glidepath and just level it out. she floated right down to touchdown with the smallest bit of bounce. full throttle and she climbed right back out. did this a bunch of times, the did the "offical" takeoff from a dead stop. wandered a bit to the right, but managed to keep it out of the dirt. lap around, the three touch and goes, then finally a long final. But as fate would have it, as i made that final turn, the brand new/first time in the air OS Max LA25 died. thankfully, i had plenty of room to get lined up, but did come in a little hot. touchdown was right at center of runway, so I gave it full down just the instant that it touched down just to keep it from bouncing. I did m,anage to bounce a small hop, but i waved the steering to try to scrub off some speed.
dont they say any landing you can walk away from is a good landing? well, the plane came home in one piece, and i have the feeling of accomplishment now and some trust in my abilitys.
Sorry about the ramble, but you guys are my commrads in t***t arms, so now with only minor fear and trepadation i can tell you that next weekend, the Saito 72 powered ship is going flying. I'll post some pictures if i can find someone to shoot pics with my camera. . .
PS: hpoe everyone has had a wonderful holiday season. .
    Jeff

Good job with the Aircruiser naswifty. We're all rooting for you next weekend. I wish I could be there for the maiden of the Twist. The .72 should be a perfect match.
Speaking of the 1.50 Twist, I'm beginning to think the RC hobby industry has decided there is more money in big airplanes. Expensive planes, engines and servos. Even the kits are killers with the initial cost and many rolls of covering. If Hanger 9 was to offer a .15-.20 sized Twist, I would buy 2 tomorrow. I have a little Saito .30 in my engine pile that would be perfect.

hey can someone help me with my twist 40 arf? The elevator joiner wire was off but it is glued in. The problem is that the two elevator halves are not even due to the error in the joiner wire. When I put one elevator half even with the horizontal stab, the other sits about 1/8" down. I know i should have bent the wire before gluing but i was also putting the hinges on at the same time. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

If you are carefull sometimes you can straighten the wire out with the elevator installed. Just grab hold of the two halfs and bend. Be firmly gentle holding on were the wire goes into the elevator.

Varad, I don't think ⅛" is enough to worry about. You should be able to trim out any problems.

I now have the PNP version, came already together. Mine was off about the same, maybe a little less. Set your neutral where the split is even. Thats what I did, You shouldnt even notice it. I would recommend against straightening it now, you'll weaken the balsa, or worse.

After you straigten it drop a couple of drops of CA in the wholes and kick it. Should work out well. Or you could leave it and trim for it. It will roll better in one direction than the other. Like Ailevators.
