I am not upset that the plane was late, but I do find it odd that Aerotech allows their web site to be so outdated. Your web site is your PR rep to your customer. At the very least, hire some kid for $9/hr to update the site and post a message stating what is going on. It'll go a long way in calming people down. I've heard nothing but good things about Aerotech in the past, so I will eventually buy one of their Pythons. I put a deposit on the plane back in June, but am holding off on buying one of the first production planes.

Glad to see the instructions are ready. The plane and the way it was shipped has impressed me.The only thing so far that I am concerned about is the CA type hinges for a plane of this size and weight.Never used them before on a gasser and wanting to know if any of you have and are they holding up?

I have used them on three (yes 3) 27% Christen Eagles Although the Skyshark RC Christen Eagle is not a 3d ... or extreme flyer in any sense ... I have put them through their paces pretty good and have never had a hinge failure. Obviously ... if I am on my third one ... 2 have reached their expiration dates ... and even after hitting the ground .. the hinges were still attached

My BMEAircraft 27% Pitts Challenger does have robart style hinges ... which I am more comfortable with using extreme throws. Maybe $10 for Robarts isn't a bad idea?

I agree on the Robarts.I just feel for the price of this arf in todays market maybe the hinging could of been better.I think Robarts for the wings and will have to use flat pin style hinges on the tail as they are not airfoiled surfaces. All my other large scale arfs came with robarts and holes pre drilled-oh well like I said I do like the rest of the plane. The construction is nice and the covering job is great.Just ordered a 3 1/2 inch True Turn that will be anodized black with a lightened back plate.Should look nice with a Mejzlik prop.

I know these were used on the Aerotech 28% Velox. I had the Velox but, I did not have enough flights on
it to make a determination before losing the plane. My buddy flew his Velox mostly in 3D without issues..

You guys would not believe the hardware package that comes with this plane,, in Johns words "It is loaded", and it is! Plus, it comes with one of the coolist tailwheels I have ever seen!

Ok guys. UPS just delivered mine (order 1200) ... 10 minutes ago. I will add my first impressions.

MY F-ING GAWD!!!!! This thing is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!

This is not my first plane. This is not my first big plane. This is not my first big biplane. This is not my first gasser. This IS my first AreoTech ... and based on first impressions ... this will NOT be my last.

I was like a kid in a candy store ... ripping the stuff outta the box ... and EVERY piece required a "that is nice" or something close to that Plus you get a few extra pieces of nice ply

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we are the testers .... so I still expect a glitch here and there with the assembly/setup. But based on the quality I see so far, I am beginning to doubt that assumption.

So .. my advice to the doubters ... order one now or sit down, shut up and watch. We will see how things go together over the next few weeks/months as people get their shipments.

John, GREAT JOB MAN!!!!!!!!

CA hingies are fine, if you want a little more confidence, put 2 button head straight pins through them and the surface and cut them off. You could hang the plane by one surface afte doing that.

My EA 34% Extra has Ca hinges. ...pinned.

Hey Bonedaddy

Let me know when you hang the engine. I'm wondering how the tuned muffler would fit with the 58 in the Python..
Maybe you can post some pictures..

Soooooo ... who is going to start the build thread? I know quite a few of y'all got your's before I got mine. Has anybody started yet? I am in bed and sicker than a dog (an ugly dog at that) ... so don't wait on me. Once I get back on my feet and caught up, I have to strip the ol' Pitts Challenger of its engine and electronics. I am looking at the end of this week or early next week before I can even have servos to put in the Python.

I did weigh the wing tubes and do some comparison questimates. The original aluminum tubes weigh 11.5 ounces. The 2 short ones (uppers) are 12 1/2" long and the lower tube is ~22 3/8" long. TBM has CF 7/8" wing tubes in 30" lengths so we will have to buy 2 and cut them down. Using the CF tubes all three will weigh less than 3 ounces. That will save us 1/2 pound right off the bat.
