There is another Aussie over at rcgroups that is making a 747 sloper

He has a thread on the construction:
1/20th 747-400 Project

I have a B-52 sloper under construction. Not quite an airliner, but close

I think it is just fun making something out of the ordinary. Being able to do "non-scale" maneuvers just adds to the fun. Nothing better than an inverted bombing run

Here you go Roger. Not much to see at this stage.... graphics and clear coat yet to come. This one is done up in the Air Holland scheme. Will try too get some better shots in the next few weeks. Hoping for the first outing to be at the Shelby meet.

Tommy,

I'll pass the word along... thought you might like it. Hopefully, you will get to see it soon. This one incorporates a radio controlled height adjustable nose gear too aid rotation.

Here are a few pic's for interested parties showing some of the construction detail... instead of a pretty picture of an assembled aircraft.

Pic (1) is a shot of the nose gear mounting bulkhead. This is all assembled as an integrated unit that mounts to the forward fuse section, then the nose cone is bolted in place over this.

Pic (2) shows a frontal shot of the wing center section. Engines are mounted on aluminum beam mounts.

Pic (3) is a shot of the wing center section showing how the main gear retracts.

Pic (4) is a view of the center section underside showing the underwing fairings "Canoe" & the main gear doors which are formed aluminum.

Couple more shots.

Pic (1) shows the scratch built vacuum forming machine that was needed to form the many ABS componets, ie; the canoe's in pic (4) above.

Pic (2) is a quarter shot view showing the molded fiberglass nose section.

Stay tuned... more to come as progress is made.
