Hi
I have just joined the forum and want to get some help on giving my MT2 some serious power. I have fitted all the upgrades for the drive train from front to back and the brake, linkage and everything else to make sure it doesn't fall to bits with some monster power. I did all the mods after installing a Nosram RS.18 engine in it but after that giving up i want to fit a big block from a savage in it. Has anyone done this kind of mod and are there any problems other than lining it all up and redrilling the chassis plate to mount it on? What is a sensible power plant to fit as the do .21,.25.,28 and so on. The .28 is a favourite at the moment but i thought if it is the same physical size as the bigger motor then why not go to the max?
Any help would be good as it is really an experiment that could go seriously wrong!! Will the MT2 fly wheel, clutch and bell housing fit on to the big block engine? I have an exhaust already and can easily mod that to fit so just need some ideas on the other bits.
Chris

Welcome to the forum.
Ok I have a MT with the OS 18 TZ in it and it has all the SS drive train and more. As of yet I have not been able to keep it running more then a tank or two before a drive train problem. I drove it for 3 ½ years with an OS 15 CV-RX with little problems. I am gaining on the problems but get ready to go throw what I have. The TZ has as much HP and more then some big blocks. To be honest the TZ is too much and if I had it to do all over again I would run the OS 18 CV-RX. I have my TZ geared REALLY high just to keep the front and on the ground and to make it easier to handle. Make sure you buy alloy differential cases and make sure you shim the diff properly or you will be going through $35 final gear sets like crazy.

You will be far from the first to do it but many have had drive train problems as well, No you will not be able to use the standard MT fly wheel or clutch. If you have the SS CB or the Race CB you can use it. The stock RTR CB is a peice of junk!

One other thing the longest thread on this WHOLE site is in the stadium truck forum over 460 pages on the MT.

Wheelie bar-

Get the Picco .26 or .28 it is also great engine and make sure the diff gears(every gear) are meshing tight and perfectly by using the shims, if you don't do it right it will eat each other up even you have hardened steel gears. Trust me, I've replace mine 6 time already. Oh also, change the screws of the diff cup with a little bigger screws to make it more secure. I had a problem with that.

I'll try to post a video.

Here's a pic when I was experimenting gearing combination for 2 speed.
