im probably one of the STRONGEST Baja Supporters, and i know i never said i was FREE FROM SPENDING. i still Spend, more than i should thats for sure) but the differance to me is with the Baja, 85% of the extra spending i have done was due to WANT not NEED! and out of all the differances between them, thats the ONLY differance that matters imo.

the fg option parts are not out of need either its just that theres alot there to choose from to make a strong model alot more stronger,+ what i dont get is why people compare the baja which is the name of 1 model made by hpi agaisnt fg - the name of the a company that makes god knows how many off and on roaders,f1,sportsline,semi trucks ect - alot more large scale in there portfollio than ANY other company with the part support to back it up.as for this thread - uk baja prices at £630 = better models out there for that price, inc marder which i have, not going to take a huff over it tho,but if i was going to sink £630+ into any model i doubt it would be based on what plp on forum told me what to spend my cash on.these threads are pointless why dont plp just buy what they like???

£630 price range, imo i would be lookin at investing that extra £200 (which is nothing in large scale terms) in a ja t3 mamba, leopard or going that extra push and get a race runner.rtr models of any make are crap your just paying for radio gear that always gets ditched

just 200 pages of parts and models from fg http://www.fgperformancerc.com/fgcatologue1.html

+ add aftermarket support not really much of a comparison

Well crap.....I did the research and all the pm's from the people who know this stuff and make a desision based on that. And will add I enjoyed every second of it. You guys are pleasant and accomodating. The fg mb was the weapon of choice and now I stumble on this post and discover some serious doubts.....I damn sure don't want to spend alot of my time and money keeping this thing running. I don't have time for that. My aircraft worries are limited to keeping the batteries charged. That's what I want from a giant scale car. I do understand that some guys take thier $1000 plus trucks full speed up the ramp and attempt to obtain orbit around jupiter. If I did that I expect to incurr some damage. but all I want is to have a little fun at home and possibly break the bonds of gravity for a distance of no more than 10 feet. With very little altitude. Am I expecting too much? Now for more research....

no, all these large scalers sound like they ll suit your needs. some need upgraded parts. but it will really depend on your use and what you hit and how fast you hit it..lol im one of those trying to orbit jupiter occasionally. i was extremely impressed when i got my baja. we literally put the thru he-ll for a month with only small issues. i duely expected broken parts, but other than one broke shock shaft, some stripped platic gears in the steering servo and 2 rubbed thru rear shock caps. it took everything i threw at it. Included 2 weeks of 16 12 yrd piles of sand/clay for the track.

The whole point of a "forum" is a place where we can share reviews, ideas, problems and solutions
with each other. There will be disagreements but such is life and let us not lose sight of the
fact that we are all in RC to have fun and part of that is sharing with others and Guys don't let differences spoil it

The baja's footprint is bigger and with the tires it's running appears to make a more stable car. The fgmb looks to bounce a good deal and somewhat sensitive at higher speeds. Is it fair to compare these two? Looks like they are different animals. Do like the idea of the 26cc though, and the looks of the mb, also the wheelies are way too cool. I would like to see some video of the fgmb running flat out wfo.

I thought the same thing about how light the FGMB is on its tires. But that must be because of the wheelbase and fat tires. And the fact it has so much power it wheelies very easy.

also the gearing on the monster models is geared for torque 16/48 so they wheely alot easier, novelty sharp wears off tho - end up gearing it for speed or use wheely bar

Anybody know the gear ratio on the Baja? Is it possible to get a baja with a larger engine?
