That seems more like it. A 20x10 at 7800 is LOW for a 65cc engine. Maybe it was a typo. I would like to see some more numbers from other people. I know what the 45 does and if the 65 follows suit, it will be low. But for the price, if it works well, what the heck.

Hi poco,

The 7800RPM were taken within about 2 minutes of initial running on the engine, no needle settings were changed from factory settings. We live at 6800ft ASL, and that has a huge amount of impact on the performance and needle settings. I will run the engine this weekend, time permitting, will set the needles correctly and post back.

I think 7800 is good, compared to my G62 that dose 6300RPM on a Menz 22X10 (stock mag. engine with homemade Pitts muffler) and my DA50 that dose 6700RPM on a Bolly carbon 21X8 (stock everything) I think that the engine will still wake up with some time on it. My Gf45i certainly impressed me yesterday running 7000 flat on a Menz S 20X8 (stock everything running rich) brand new.

A G62 turning a 22-10 at 7800 is wishful thinking unless it has a tuned pipe on it, if Horizon says 7800 they are nuts....
A MSC 22-10 turns about 6400, a Dynathrust 22-10 about 7400...Other brands are in between..MenzS wood 24-8 65-6700, Xoar 23-8 65-6700..Don't remember what a 20-10 turns..All readings are with open exhaust, no muffler...altitude 6800 feet...

Hi Ralph,

Sorry, you must have misunderstood me, it's not the G62 running at 7800 but, the Peak Models GS65 running 7800 on a 20x10 MAS, My G62 runs at 6300RPM 22X10 Mens S.
Sorry for the confusion.
regards

dries

LOL
It was Poco that said 22-10 at 7800, his post on the previous page...
You won't get good readings unless you set the carb yourself...Unless the engine mfr runs each engine before shipment, the "factory" settings are for the chainsaw the carb was made for... And calibrated by Walbro....

<<<That engine looks *very* much like a slightly larger version of the CRRCPro 45.

Hopefully it's a better and more reliable performer than the CRRC Pro engine. I also hope the quaity control is a whole lot better.

The Peak 45cc also looks like the CRRCPro 45, albeit without a velocity stack and with a slightly different carb/orientation.
>>>

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Xjet, ... There's no need to scare anyone by comparing this engine to the CRRCPro line of engines, as they really have nothing in common other than the basic configuration that all 2 cycle engines of this type share. On the 45's that you compared in your pic, the cylinders are clearly different, the crankcases are hugely different, the carb blocks and carburetors have no similarity in placement or design, and the mufflers are complete opposites. And as far as the 65cc goes .... CRRCPro doesn't even have a 65cc in their product lineup. So the quality issues that have haunted CRRCPro shouldn't be made or placed on this line of engines.

Well I finally mounted the Peak-65 on my test stand and fired it up.
A couple flips with the choke closed and pop. Then 3 flips open and bang.
This thing is LOUD !!!!!!
But man is it sweet. Running 7200-7250 with a 22x8 Menzjik prop.
I am still looking for my IR-temp probe so I can monitor the head temp.
I have run 3 32oz tanks of fuel threw it so far with an old set of headphones
on my ears. The next door neighbor came over to see what the &^%$ was going on.
The muffler is nothing more than a couple pieces of thin pipe welded together to a manifold/
header type of thing with two stack outlets. I really don't think there is any baffle at all.
Also, the exhaust is not painted, it is chromed and has not turn blue or black yet.
I have ordered a CMP Extra 330L from AK-Models yesterday and should have it ready to
fly in 2-3 weeks. Also, I have a couple other pictures of the engine on the test stand that I
will post next.
See Ya!

I ordered and received an email that mine was shipped on Feb. 9th. I haven't received yet, but hope to today? I tried to beat the Chinese New Year holiday shutdown. I'll post info when I receive it. It will go on a 29 % Edge 540T or a 27% Hangar 9 Cap 232. Both are NIB, and can't decide until I get the engine.

It depends on what kind of flying you would like to do. That says 18.5 pounds... so if you hit 19 pounds you wont really be doing any 3D with this engine... It may say 65cc but looking at the numbers its about as strong as most of the well known 50cc engine.

Idealy you probably want to be under 18 pounds with a stock muffler setup.

Sinergy, I don't think you've given this engine a fair chance before making the above statement. "driesbabe" said he tached 7800 on a Master Airscrew 20 x 10. Poco said he thought that was low for a 65cc, but drisbabe made it clear that 7800 was taken just minutes after starting the engine for the first time, at an higher altitude of 6800 ft. above sea level, and using unmodified factory needle settings that should naturally be set at the richer side. And if that MA prop is that big heavy nylon variety, that would make it even more understandable. driesbabe further noted that his G62 turns a Menz 22x10 at 6300(Standard mag and questionable muffler), but RCIGN1 kinda supports this data by saying his observations were that a G62 turns a MSC 22x10 at 6400 rpm, with open no muffler exhaust at the same altitude as driesbabe! So, in my mind .... driesbabe's 65cc has a 1400 rpm gain over a comparable G62, in exchange for a 2" reduction in prop diameter, while running rich, at high altitude, and only minutes out of the box. Now I know nothing's scientific about this comparison, but I don't think considering all the variables that this is closer to a 50cc performance, as you put it. ... unless you also want to say the G62 is low. As RCIGN1 explained, you HAVE to set up your needles before you can get good readings ... worthy of laying fault on.

Well let's face it a Master Airscrew is an overgrown popsicle stick. APC props spin high but generate very little thrust. Put a 20x10 Xoar prop on there and those numbers will fall much further.

I was acutally looking at "But man is it sweet. Running 7200-7250 with a 22x8 Menzjik prop. " as stated by w4dnq

A Menz puts a lot more load on an engine than an MA .. you cant just look at the 2" size difference.. you also have to look at the prop design and load difference as well.

Ok, but my point was that this may be a good performer still, .. and the above quote you made by w4dng kind of hints at this.
