I looked at this engine myself awhile back. Price is right, but I just do not know about it or could not find any info. I just put another $100 and got an engine I know the history of. IIf you do get one gives us a report? Good luck!

I sent an email to Peak models. Although they offer a two year warranty, they are in New Zealand and the engines come from China. I live in the US and i am not willing to go through all that if i have a problem. I think its well worth a little extra money to deal with someone a little more local.

They do their best to give good service! But the SPE 26 is usless! I have had two, and both of them failed after less than 2 hours running time! ( ign. module failure) I had to return both and that was costly!!

Drbenz,

I have the new seagull Bling 50 and it is a very nice looking plane. Most people are using a Evo 45 on or a DA-50. I decided to use a Brillelli 46. $375.00 with CH ignition & sycro-pack. This engine produces 28lbs of thrust with a 22x8 prop. The plane weigh's in at 14.5 lbs with this size engine so there is plenty of power and then some.

I would buy and engine that is more local so you can get some help when needed and a well know company like Brillelli, DA. ZDZ, Brison and others well be able to give that to you more easily than a company in New Zealand. Don't get me wrong, I have ordered some props from Peaks Models and I got a very good deal on them. But a prop is not a engine that can give you hours of fustration if not turned right. Save yourself some headack and buy a good name brand engine here is the good ole USA. My cost you a little more, but it is well worth it. I know I have tried the low cost engines and they cost more in the long run. Brillelli on the other hand is not one of these types of engines. You well get real good customer support after the sale.

Hi,
Not to active in replying to the forums, but have a real interest in this one.
I just ordered one of these Peak 65cc engines. For $339, you can't go wrong if it runs.
I spent $600 for two flights on my Christen Eagle, running a brand new Brison 3.2/52cc engine.
Only to find out that the exhaust blew a hole in the muffler and welded the muffler screws into the cylinder.
It was a J&A muffler and not the Bison muffler I ordered.

Sent it back over a month ago and Kangae/Cimmaster/BJ Engines, said I need to pay for the cylinder as
I must have not tightened the muffler screws ????????

Anyway, I don't think I'll see that engine very soon, so I thought in the mean time I would check out
one of these new Peak 65cc's. It looks like in their pictures that the muffler is not the best of quality,
but we will see. I will put it on the test stand and break it in as soon as I get it in the mail.

I already have the SPE 26cc/Edge Combo and are very happy with the plane and engine. I also have the
SPE40cc engine that I broke in on the test stand but have not found a home for just yet.

I will keep all posted here as soon as I can.

Hi Guys,

After only finding this topic now, here is my opinion. We are unfortunately stuck in Namibia in southern Africa, and have to make due with whatever we get.
Although we can get all the good stuff here, the prices are a bit off for such engines as DA, 3W and such.

I have had the 65cc engine for a couple of weeks now, and although I have not done any extensive testing or flying on it, this is what I have found.

The engine is of a decant quality looking at the outside, the exhaust seems to be chromed, but after a short run the silver was gone an appeared to be paint only (doesn’t matter to me) The Carb is not actually a Walbro, but a Chinese copy. If problems arise here, a Walbro would fit (Zenoha G62)

The Engine was but on a stand, and a 20X10 MA Prop fitted. It started 2 flip and ran well, idle is a bit rough but after more running smoothed out considerably transition is instant.
On factory settings the engine turned the 20X10 at 7800RPM and yes I know that this is a bit small, but I think that is very good (have not tried any other props)

We checked the timing, and it appears that it is in fact auto advance and advances about 16 degrees to WOT. This engine is loud, and I mean very loud so you guys will probably have to do something about that.

After about half n hour of running, nothing had leaked, bust or ruptured (except the paint of the exhaust)
Oh, and the plug is of the worst kind, if you want interference then use this one.

Regards
Dries

Dries,
That is good news, I hope to have mine buy the weekend.
I wonder it after the paint is burnt off of the muffler, we could paint it
black with the BBQ grill high temp stuff, just to keep it from rusting.

I plan on putting this in my Christen Eagle after a long break-in when
the engine runs smoother.
Thanks for the input,
w4dnq

Count Brison out of this list as after two flights on my 52/3.2 the exhaust blew part of the muffler away and wrecked the cylinder.

Now I am dealing with three (3) companies to fix it.
1- BJ Service in CT as they handle the warranty for Brison engines.
2- Kangee in NY as they are the distributor.
3- Cimmaster in Canada as they are now the manufacture.

It has now been over a month and no one knows what they are doing.
BJ Service (Bill is very Nice) has the crankcase and misc parts.
Kangee has the muffler.
Cimmaster has the cylinder.
Go Figure but as much as I use to love Brison engines, this will be the last one I own !

w4dng,

Sorry to hear about your trouble with a Brison engine. I too do not go back to a company if I do not get the support a customer should get after buying thier product. That is why I am a Brillelli user now. Scott at Brillelli replaced a S/S EI for one of the guy's in my club because it just stopped working. They sent him a new one with no questions asked and that was after 30 days of use and 10 to 12 flights on the plane. A company like that is what we all need.

Good Luck with you Brison.

Today is Feb.5,07 and just got off the phone with Bill Jensen at BJ Engines and he
informed me that my Brison 52cc is fixed but I had to pay for a new cylinder. $130.
Brison/Cimmaster would not pay for the cylinder but Kanage gave me a new muffler and
Bill at BJ did not charge me labor.

I would suggest using BJ Engines for service if one of the Peak/SPE Engines fails. It
sure would be cheaper then sending it back to China.

Anyway, I have not received my PEAK-65 yet. But I have the test stand cleaned
and ready for the new beast. I think I am going to break it in with a 22x8 TopFlight
wood prop. Anyone have an idea if that is a good choice ?

Hello All,
Well, I received my new Peak Model 65cc engine today and all looks great.
I will try to have it in the test stand within the next two days to see how she performs !??

Everything looks nice, even the muffler. But I wonder if and when it goes bad, if it
can be replaced with something we can get a hold of in the states.

I had to take a pix of the first page of the instruction manual ????? They need some help !!!!

I will test and forward my findings.

That engine looks *very* much like a slightly larger version of the CRRCPro 45.

Hopefully it's a better and more reliable performer than the CRRC Pro engine. I also hope the quaity control is a whole lot better.

The Peak 45cc also looks like the CRRCPro 45, albeit without a velocity stack and with a slightly different carb/orientation.

Peak 45

CRRC Pro 45

However, I suspect that the cylinder and crankcase castings are used by dozens of Chinese manufacturers so they could well come from different factories and be ported slightly differently.
