zulugogogo -> Li-Po Charger for a 12C battery (1/2/2007 7:00:27 PM)

Hi can any one help a newbee. I have recently bought a helicopter and decided to buy a "11.1v 2200mAh 12C Li-Po Rechargeable Battery" off of eBay. I want to get a charger for it, nothing to special but I cannot find a charger that does 12Cells [:o] or is the 12C somthing else. Anyway recommendations would be much appreciated as I dont have a clue. I would like to be able to use the charger indoors and out and about if that is possible but dont want to spend more on a charger than I did on the heli.
Many thanks. [:D]

Hi, welcome to rcu. I would do a lot of reading on lipos. They can be unforgiving if not treated well.

The 12C is the discharge capability. It's max discharge rate is 12 time the (C) capacity. 2200 times 12 = current in ma.

The voltage indicates the number of cells to be 3. Each cell is 3.7 nominal volts and in looking for a lipo charger it needs to be a 3S capable unit. Most of them are 1-3S chargers. The S stands for the number of cells in series.

A hobbico Elite is a nice unit and is a dual unit as well.

Beware of some e-bay batts I had heard of some that used unsoldered leads that were merely twisted around the cell tabs. [:'(]
