    Question...

What are the thoughts about a DA50? Will it make more power with the stock muffler? or...with the standard cannister? (not tuned pipe, just regular cannister) I'm debating which muffler to use.

    Thanks
    Barry

I don't think you gain or lose anything significant other than noise and weight... about 8-10 oz mre for the canister...

I just got my invoice as well. However, the 85" wing came in one box and was $75.00 to ship. This one takes 3 boxes and I didn't think the price was that much more considering. I will tell you that I shipped the same box with FedEX that Chris shipped my first 85" in to PA I think and it was $119.00 if I'm not mistaken.

That makes sense then..3x as many boxes and bigger...Actually its prolly a good thing to package stuff separate..Im sure its easier to protect from the United Package Smasher's!!

I deal with ship quotes with UPS on a daily basis. UPS gives additiona fuel surcharges on ALL shipments based on billable weight. (They have been going up ever since gas used to be $1.85)
So the shipping costs have risen considerably since last time EF shipped out large airplanes. A calculation for just the fuselage box shows a billable weight of 90+ lbs even though it actually weighs 27.

Chris's email states that he charges actual shipping charges wich is far better than shipping and "Handling" that many companies will charge. It is a good way to do business in my opinion.

Mine is Red, White, Black and Silver.....drool, drool.

Yep I agree shipping is outrageous for anything any more..I mean a small box from Tower costs 7$...Im positive Chris got us the best deal...I was laughing at how heavy the boxes were..the plane only weighs 17-18 lbs!! LOL!! I think I need to call in a few sick days when this baby comes in!!

Maybe he is like that other Chris (Kringle) who only brings the toys when all the little boys and girls are asleep?

I bet that guy is busier than a one legged guy in a butt kicking contest. Counting ball links, counting titanium rods, counting all the little hardware goodies going in the boxes.

So in reality he really needs to finish up the manual by what, Thursday or Friday when some of us will be getting our toys?

I still have the original Yak manual and so far for the most part its identical to what Chris has already put up..All we may really need are some measurements and CG location...

Manual? We don't need no steenkeen manual!

ANd we don't need no steenkeen measurements either...

(they are lasered on the firewall... Centerline, offset centerline and DA50 holes already marked... Lay my tmeplate on there and go to town...

Take the 74" manual and assemble the plane accordingly...

CG? Back of the wing tube and see what happens...

YAY! Post enough drivel and you get the lucky 1000...

Seriously though... poor Chris... I'm sure he IS buried... and trying to get the manual done and written, and all the while setting the pics aside ofr the build thread...

We'll get by if the manual isn't complete till the weekend... I'd rather him burn midnight oil and get 'em shipped than delay a day and get the manuls first right????

Again... this plane has more posts PRIOR to shipping than some planes have in their entire history... tee hee...

Got my invoice too! WOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was guessing that shipping was gonna be around 100 bucks. I was only $16 shy. It would cost me more in gas and about 20hrs drive time (round trip) to pick it up in person. That time will be better spent starting fresh transmitter programming, organizing my work table, gathering all my accesories and ordering my wife and kids out of my garage! Please shove food and drinks under the door until I'm done!

    The excitement grows........

THe tires ....you should go read Troybuilt models comments on the Kavans.....I thought I was havimg DejaVu.....he describes my exact experience with those.

THe crome hubs and air fillable tires are 2oz a piece. And they will hold up. The grey hubs ,like I had ,will break if abused.

2oz a piece and bad...it aint the lightest...but I dont want flat spots either, been there.

Burning the midnight oil indeed! No worries on the manual, I will pick them up from the printer in the morning and they will ship with the planes. My apologies for not updating the build thread last night, but I felt it more important to get the manual wrapped up. I will try my best to get the build thread updated in the next day or so-after the first 20 Yaks are shipped of course!

huh....huh....huh...... He said bigger planes. Man I cant wait for EF to get all of there new planes up and running. I am really looking forward to you guys getting your Yaks and see what kind of setups you use. I am also really looking forward to April.(Maybe the Extra will be here).

I am also really glad that just a couple short driving hours from my house is the place known as Extreme Flight. With that being said, when my plane arrives I think that the cough, cough, sniffle, sniffle may come in to effect so that I can make a run down there and pick my plane up.
