I,m waiting on delivery from my LHS so will be pleased to keep in touch. There's been plenty of input on RC Groups. Mostly better than that on its predecessor, the DG1000.

Happy new year, too !.

Overall, its a nice kit......with some nice features.

I have noticed though, there seems to be a bit of anhedral in the wings, when they are mounted onto the fuz ?. This should level out though, in flight.

My recommended gear installation is:-

2 x Hitec HS-85MG's in the wings
1 x Hitec HS-55 in the fin, operating the elevator.
1 x Futaba S148 operating the rudder (via closed loop)

I'm using a Multicell 4.8v, 1000mAh, 2/3AF Ni-Mh battery............which is powering a JR RS77S "synth" Rx.

Its distributed by J Perkins. The arrival date in the UK was 03.01.07 according to their website. I have one on order from my LHS (PLUG-- Channel 4 Bournemouth) and hope to get it as soon as Customs release the import.

I got mine from Punctillio Model Spot, who had a stall at the BARCS soaring market.

Any reputable Perkins dealer in the UK, should be able to get one.

Have a word with Steve Webb Models, thats probably the best shop near to you !

Status: offline 		Most of the hardware is adequate. I did end up replacing the clevices and I made my own carbon fiber control horns but the ones that came with it looked fine. I just prefer my usual hardware. The part that does not look up to the task is the wing rod and the wing tubes. I did replace the wing tubes on mine with carbon tubes beacuse one side was loose and was flopping around inside the wing. The anhedral is due to the wing rod flexing under the weight of the wings. In flight it goes the other direction but because it is so weak there is a fair amount of wing flex. Applying spoileron or flaperon will also cause the wings to flex a fair bit. I have ordered some 6mm steel rods to replace the carbon joiner on mine. Hopefully that will reduce the flexing. I may bed the rod to add a bit of dihedral. The kit looks just plain stupid with the wings hanging down like saggy titts on an old tart.

I've replaced all the horn on mine, as the standard ones look too thin. I have used them on the rudder though, as with the standard "closed-loop" set-up.

The pushrods and clevises were also replaced, as they looked way too flimsy to me...........and new servo covers were made too, as the kit ones were too thick !.

For the price, its a reasonable kit.............but as they say, you get what you pay for.

Status: offline 		Well I did get my stainless steel 6mm rod I have installed it in the plane. I bent a few degrees of dihedral into the rod and the plane looks much much better. No more old saggy's. I did not think I would get a bent rod through the tube in the fuse. But the tube is so flimsy that it just conforms to the bend in the rod. The wings are ever so slightly up now when it sits on the bench and once in flight they should take a more scale look. The wings are also a little less flexy with the steel rod. If your gonna slope it I highly recommend switching to a steel rod with a few degrees of dihedral in it.

My Discus doesn't have that much. I am going to try it with the standard joiner rod first, and if need be.......will change it

Recently, I have bought CMPro Discus and have the same problem as you had before. You have replaced the origin carbon rod with a steel rod and bent it to make dihedral for both wings. I would like to know
How many degrees to bend the steel rod? and
How can plug this steel rod into the fuselage because it has been bent?

Status: offline 		I was wondering if this glider is purely for the slope or can it be thermaled. And if so, would a hi-start launch be adequate. I'm interested because I don't have any hills in the area and this plane just looks so cool!!

Status: offline 		After a couple of very iffy flights put the thing away until last week. With friends (6) rented a house in Devon for a week's sloping off the 400ft cliffs. Went to Start Point, a lovely site but with somewhat restricted landing area. Tested the air with an Xit - 10 knots and 400ft altitude ALG - so, after adding a little lead to bring the CoG 1/8in forward, plus 2-3 degrees of reflex on the ailerons off she went --- perfectly, stacks of altitude, stable and predictable in all senses. A transformation! BUT using Half Crow (airerons up) instigated a vertical dive! So no more of that. A 30 minutes flight and I brought her in to a perfect landing even within the limited landing area. After flying a few other models including ASW15, 110in Wing, Filip 600, GWS P38 (as PSS) etc. etc. had another go with the discus. Now seemed even better. This little model now lives in rhe car!!

Status: offline 		Daveosoar-- If you don't mind my asking, what mods did you perform on your Discus? Mine's intended for aerotow and highstart launching and not for the slope. I'm wondering if I really need to strengthen the fuselage as has been discussed over on the RCG thread. I'll be landing on mowed grass and not a rocky slope site. I'll replace the carbon rod with a steel one if I can find 6mm here in the US.

Glad to hear that yours flies well as I'm eager to get mine in the air.
