I smoked my Li-Po last night so I'm done till the weekend. . Note on Li-Po...When it shows it's starting to get weak (slightest loss of power), shut it down and re-charge. That's a $40.00 lesson.

crashcrash,

Here is info on a battery monitor I use. I dont trust my self to stop before ruining the battery.

Lanny

============================
I slowly ruined several battery packs by over discharging them. Costly to say the least!

So here is a solution- we took a volt watch (little 3 gram module that you can stick on the side of your 4 in 1) and redesigned it for lipo use. Now I get bright green lights, and as the battery slowly depleates the LED will move down the scale until it hits 9.2 volts when it shows red and then goes very bright red at 9.1 volts. Its easy to see from a long way away both inside and outside. It has 7 LEDs of different colors so you can always know your battery status while flying.

It turns out that you can also use the voltwatch type unit to tell you about your battery packs (if you have a weak cell or charging problems) as well as if you are overtemping your battery or drawing too much current (which shortens your battery packs life). It also has provided a means to often detect a main motor that is just about to fail before the failure occurs due to worn out brushes or an overheated and shorted winding. And finally it also serves as a way to check to see if you have too much pitch in your rotor blades resulting in a difficult and inefficient helicoptor that is not flying well.

It comes with a pass through JST connector (or no connector if your prefer) and works with any 11.1 volt 3 cell lipo pack.

If you interested we now have them for sale! $16.50 per module $3 shipping. Just let us know the connector type, How you would like to pay (Paypal preferred) and where you want it shipped to!

Pricing- $16.50 per battery module.
3 day fast shipping is $3.50 per order.
Just email us and we will send you a paypal invoice today!

Update 27 Jun 06: We just shipped our 100th Battery Monitor- thanks to everyone for making them such a success! We have users in Sweden, UK, Germany and as far away as South American and even Iraq!

Good Luck and Happy Flying

Heh....... I am going to the bank today, then the LHS for some more parts for the Blade CP. Not sure i want to spend 137 bucks for the bell-hiller swashplate gizmo. I think I am gonna try to leave this one stock...........and if I get more competent then will look into either a Balde CPP or maybe even get frisky and try a Trex. I know........learn to fly what ya have first, then upgrade.....lol.
Hopefully the guys at the LHS will have some ideas of what may possibly help me as I am still unable to get the CP to hover hands free for a sec....... even trying to adjust trim on TX I am still having to hold cyclic to keep my heli in one spot. I think the bent servo link is making my life more difficult than it has to be.
Might get a brushless motor too.....and new tail motor.....might as well be ready for my first real outdoor flight.
Is great to see that peeps are checking out this post and enjoying what they are seeing! By the way crash, Was unable to get to downloading that video last nite.......I got home........ate dinner..layed down to watch TV.....and was 2 AM when i woke up....lol. I will work on it tonite..while batterys are charging........ My heartrate is already rising, goin to LHS with a pocket full of pennies and a yearning desire to bring home some eye candy/vital parts! Now......what to buy........what to buy......wheeeeeeeeeeeeee

Glad to have the "jump in's". Still waiting for battery and parts, then re-set everything to get it where i had it before I lost the battery and messed up my settings (if it aint broke...don't fix it). I was talking to an ex-coastie who was in a heli unit. He said flying (hovering) a real heli like a huey or a dolphin was called "stirring the soup" in reference to holding it in one spot. He did get a couple hours stick time in forward flight only (aircrewman). Most real helicopters (SH60's) now are computer driven which eliminates constant corrections to hold solid hover I have been told. Just as an F-14 or an FA-18 cannot be flown without it's computers operating the flight controls (I'm ex-Navy, fixed wing units...P3B Orion and E2B Hawkeye). The Navy don't even fly P3B's or E2B's anymore. You're right about the upgrades....wait! If you are going to do ONE thing, Do the Li-Po/charger/ and heat sinks. It increases performance by 100% not to mention extends your FUN time in the air. Just make sure you learn about Li-Po's, they're a little finickey and wont tolerate abuse. A stock CP with Li-Po is cats pajamas! I have hovered repeatedly in the last week or so and have got pretty good at it. If I can do it, ANYONE can. Learning the set up of the trims is difficult, even compared to REAL airplanes (we had a book for those). I just worked at mine till I got it. Adjust....check...adjust...check. If it gets worse, you went the wrong way...adjust it back...check...adjust it back again...check. On the blade there are two pitch adjust links, three servo adjust links plus the servo arms that can be adjusted on the servos and have three holes each...that's 19 adjust points if I counted right. Mind boggling!

Ok..so went and bought a new battery charger and blades and main shaft, tail motor, ect. Wanted to buy some upgrade stuff..but the kid at the store seemed to want to discourage spending money. LOL........... his loss as I had abut 300 bucks i was willing to spend. I am waiting till i can get a full battery hover before going to Lipo but will prolly go ahead and order a couple from Commonsenserc.com . Hard to go wrong when you can get 2 1250 mah lipos for 40 bucks delivered. Anyone who knows about the lipo and blade cp do these look ok for what i want?

http://www.commonsenserc.com/product_info.php?cPath=37_35&products_id=72

I already have 2 800mah 7.4 volt lipos for my coaxial so had to get a better charger than what was supplied with the Ocean Rescue. I see right after i bought mine they now have a balancing charger included and even a more detailed user manual. Sadly, I think the motors on that lil coaxial are already wearing out. I took it all apart last nite and cleaned and lubed everything and it seemed to help a little...but not as much as i had hoped. I put in a call to Paul S. at Venom headquarters in Idaho and am waiting for a return call from him today.

Ok..back to the topic at hand. Haven't installed any new parts. Oh ya! I did get a pretty good hover last nite.....but still am fighting the sticks so will install the new servo links today and move them one slot in on the servo arms. Then its readjust heaven all over again...lol.
Tried to work on the videos I have already shot....but they are so jumpy...i doubt you can see much of anything so will have to wait till I can find a cleaning cassette for my ancient and finicky camcorder. Will keep ya posted........

Wow!! Just got off the phone with Paul from Venom, He is sending me 2 new motors for my Venom Ocean Rescue. All I was looking for was a fix to get it to respond a lil more decisivly. IMHO that goes way above and beyond customer service. Wish i could get that kind of service at a gas station...... Sorry , I know...off topic.....but when a company returns a call from you and its a real live human and they go that extra step to make you happy........ Then they deserve a lil credit! Well done Venom!!!!

Just installed servo link and did the zero pitch thing on my Blade. What an insane difference, I am able to hover a lil easier now but still a hands on flight. Snowed here last nite so decided to not go into work and stayed and played with the "toys" all day. Gone thru about 3 batterys so far.....and still adjusting, but am able to hold a hover in a 5' x 5' square now.........with touchdowns when it starts to pendulum but never throttle off, and am able to go right back to hover after skidding it around the floor back to center of room. Also it sounds alot quieter and doesn't seem to run out of battery as quickly. the new charger has changed charge times from 2 hrs down to 40 minutes.
get that thing in the air crash........yer slacking........LOL. Glad to hear ya got yer stuff in today! Weekend is coming and weather looks good for about a week....so am hopin to get in some park time this week.

I just schmucked my woodie symm's (brand NEW). Turned off the TX first...all heck broke loose. Got new flat woodies installed already and it's trimmed out. Just waiting for charge. No other damage I can tell.

Just flew it again. bouncy and pendelums...needs adjust and fresh charge. I can hover it, but a little squirrely. Raise the back two servo links by 1 turn and see if it smooths up.

I just took out another set of woodies, the flat bottoms (must be school night because I'm really getting taken to school tonight). Where it is right now...I put my plasti-blades back on because they wont blow apart if you hit a feather or some dust in the air. I had to replace the main rotor shaft because it got bent when I blew the symm woodies(I had a spare). I've hovered it and it seems a little smoother and controlable and it's starting to act like it did before I messed with it when the
