Thanks Guys! Hey Vic, I'm trying to piece together everything I need for a decent HBKII that I can do mild 3D, mostly flips, rolls, ect...
I thinking of using my 2100 and 2200 mah pack but will go lighter if needed. What gyro will keep the tail under control and servo. Also do you recommend a certain motor over another and ESC. I'm looking for the best 1 time buy.

God Bless B.O.B.'s

Jay

Jay, I buy the CHEAP stuff and I'm not at loops/rolls yet...but I do get some occasional "nose in", (somewhat retarded I guess). I've seen this guy's video...he's into the mild 3D, and has a good knowlege base on good HBKII setups. PM him....he wouldn't mind helping you out. He hangs out on the HBKII tuner thread:

thanks guys for the info on the repairs.

I did see the replacement fuselage for $18.99. but I think I'll go with the epoxy route for now. (I foresee a few more crashes). Then once I get it dialed in I'll probably pick up a new body and do a rebuild.

Thanks for the CF rod idea. Definately going to use that one!

Sad news on the TREX 450SA, I've decided not to rebuild after the last crash. There was a lot more damage then I originally thought. I've decided to dismantle and put her to the parts yard. The electronics are being transferred to a used 450 SEV2 frame I picked up on the cheap.

Sounds like a plan. Yeah, I'd fly the plane till it cant fly/be fixed anymore....then do something to replace the body. The CF rod in the engine area is a GREAT repair idea....make it stronger.

Gents,

I've been through this before but am still looking for certainty in my diagnosis.

SYMPTOM: Tail Wags slightly in forward flight on my Blade CP+

I reduce the gyro gain but nothing changes. This happens regardless of which battery I'm flying and usually happens 1-2 minutes into each flight. This has happened before and I replaced both motors at the beginning of May; the problem cleared up and didn't redevelop until late May. I am flying about 20-30 minutes per day about 5 times per week now. So, should I change the tail motor AND the main or just the tail or something else?

Thanks guys!

Scott

Fixin' the SA (continued):
When you do go for a new body you might want to consider some "pre-emptive" reinforcement after what you've seen.
The fuselage failed right at the perimeter of the mounting rig. It's job is to distribute the engine thrust loads into the body but, due to the design with the thrust line elevated with respect to the centerline of the body, it introduces severe bending at that juncture and foam does not do bending too well. You need to increase the area of the thrust application and try to minimize the bending.
You'll notice the motor plates take up all the flat space in that area sooooooo........
You'll need two 4ft lengths of .030 CF rod and cut each into 8" lengths and for this mod you can work on the lower surfaces only if you wish but it's better with both upper and lower treated. You need to epoxy these rods in the area of the motor plates and up onto the exterior of the fuselage fanned out. Use shallow grooves at the motor plates and surface mount forward of that.
Don't overtighten the bolts holding the plates to the fuselage...foam doesn't need excessive compression either.
I've seen some nice Strykers with some interesting work performed on them.....one with a canard would you believe.
Nice day today 'cept for the "race". Formula 1 is getting to be a manufacturer's procession these days and Indy is obsessed with a medium talented female who can photograph well.
Thank Heaven for Scott Pruett.
Heavy air today and thunder in the offing. All helis flew well....the Rex still scares me some but I'm coming around.
Got to go and finish wiring the railroad so.....
Later gentlemen,
Ray

It sounds like you've already diagnosed the situation. I would think if the wagging stopped after replacing the tail motor and now it's back after some time, the tail motor is starting to lag. My thought... it's something a tail motor driven heli does Mine wags all of the time and I start with my rudder trim on the right and after 5 minutes of flight I've trimmed it all the way to the left. My tail motor gets too hot and I need to trim more length off of the prop. I would think the main is fine if you oil it regularly but your tail is weakening. I oil both motor shafts before flying, usually There are no bearings, just bushings.

Good luck and God Bless,

Jay
