Dave ~

My dad for his T-600 with that Air-Thunder 5000 mah battery used the EC3's, and they never posed a problem... I use the EC3's for my T-500 which the Scorpion motor is rated for 1470 watts, and a max of 70 amps discharge and I still also have no issues also... But I really like the EC5's ! If I had to change everything all out someday, I'd go for those for sure ! The Deans just suck period, as there hard to pull apart especially in an emergency (ask me how I know... ), and there has been instances where the connection on the connector has broken off in flight and causing crashes.

With the EC3's or 5's, there leads are also inside and "clipped" inside the connector, making them a for sure deal in my mind... I'd go for them EC5's...! You always could just solder the motor and esc together eh ?! For my T-450 with its 525 watt motor and 52 amp discharge, it is just awesome... No better connection, than a good solder connection, and offers less resisitance than any connector out there. But I still won't do it for the T-500, just because its not an experimental craft... The 450 is.... (LMAO)....

Jeff,

That's a great idea you brought up, using the servo grommets for the canopy. The ones on my Legend 450 are crapola and the ones on the Trex 600 are okay, but a little to be desired.

I'll be getting the EC5's for sure, I just found them at Hobby King a ton cheaper, you know me, I squeek when I walk. LMAO !

A buck 29, per pair... I believe I'll just bite the bullet now and convert the 450, 600 and all my batteries to the EC5's. Inexpensive mod, with making a more positive connection, and easy when connecting or disconnecting. A win, win situation.

Jeff,

That baby is SUPER SWEET, I want one too. I'm sure I'll get in some trouble in the next few months or so.. No doubt about that.

I'd love to have one, just to scoot up and down the street if nothing else, hmmmmmm!

I sent ya an e-mail about the job situation, but I'll make it public to the guys here.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hi All,

I received a call from my boss today and was notified, that I am no longer employed at the Car Dealership I "USE" to work at. LOL !
The dealership lost it's franchise, and nowhere to go but down.

Not to worry, I have all my ducks lined upped in a row, I was actually looking forward to it. Been working for 50 years, ya know one gets tired after awhile.

The funniest thing is, I told Mrs. Chopper aka Liz, she's okay with it too. However, it wasn't 15 minutes after I told her, that she lined upped a project for me to do tomorrow... Holy Crap Liz, give me some time to rest, would ya.. LMAO! She's a peach and I love her to death.. going on 35 years. Family First, that's my motto, and I'm sticking to it, bar none.

Catch ya around, I'm not going anywhere

it PLEASED me to read about the EC5 connectors : at least in SOMETHING this old fool is UP with the trend....been using these
connectors for a long while now.
Another type that I found are excellent are the ZERO LOSS connectors made by BOB BOUCHER

I like the picture of the FRENCH MICRO PLANE ; that one has been around for years and years, it is the CRI CRI

and it has a great flying reputation.

RICK ....very sick " but not yet dead "

I tried to return to work today : when I got there I got a bad coughing spell and was politely asked to LEAVE and don't come back
until you're better, maybe Thursday or Friday...

...... i am flying the mSR and I got it down NOW : I can place it just like I can the MCX .... this is a BIG little jewel of a heli

Hey Guys,

FYI
For those of you who might have been waiting to get a new or another charger, Hobby City just posted a deal. Their normally 79.00 charger is down to 63.00. This is a good charger held by my friends here and Rotarydoc next door on the "are these blades for a cp pro" thread. It is a 150.00 watt 7 amp 8 cell. The "less" expensive model and same brand is a 50 watt and is 37.00 their everyday price. Either of these chargers will charge TWO 3S packs at once with HC $2.00 adapter.

Jeff and John,

On your Logo 10 and Trex 600, respectively. What type connectors are you guys using on the ESC and main power battery.

I've got the deans connectors on mine, and not to thrilled about how difficult they are to snap together. The setup on the Trex 600, makes it difficult to grab them easily to plug them together.

Jeff, I know you talked about the EC3 connectors but they are under rated amp wish for a big ass brick battery that we use.

Check out the EC5's, rated at 120 amps.. I think I'm going this direction.. What do guys think?

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=EFLAEC503#quickSupport

Dave

Hello Chopper, sorry I did not see this request earlier. I use EC3's in every heli I have except the 600. It came with Deans so I stuck with them. I have never ever had an EC3 fail
me.
I fly the BRICKS for 5 minutes in normal and 3.5 to 4 in idle-up. When I land my packs all come in at 3.7 per cell and never have I put in the 4,000 mAh that are there to spend. I say the with the exception of today. I had to land the 600 in LVC! ! ! I was "with" white knuckles but godderdone!

Hey Guys,
Here some of my 600 flights today at the Club field. Sorry one of them I am high in the frame. I tried to cut out all of the boring parts or out of frame parts on both vids.

The videos are seizing so you must bring it up but then "pause" it until some of the red load line fills up. It needs to buffer up about 1/4" of red line before they will run without seizing

Welcome to the land of retirement, choppers! Hope to join you there someday, my parents will hopefully get there in the next decade as well.

Well, I need to take this winter and get back into helicopters, a lot of time has been taken by trying new things, like combat foamie fliers. For those interested, here's the video and article link for Part 1 - Parts and Plans.

Still working on catching up on this thread...Sheesh, slow down!

Take care, all, I'm pooped after all this writing, it's time for bed. Keep the helis up, glad to see you're enjoying the mSr, Rick, and it's especially neat to see how J-Michael is progressing. Definitely progressing!

Eric,
Outstanding video! to say the least. There was a guy yesterday at the Club Field with one of these. However he had a V tail on his. We all asked "what the heack is this thing and he explained to us that at another field they have dog fight LMAO. More funny was the fact that he said... they fly to dang near dead batteries before anyone can hit eachother LOL.
Again a great video..........and if you dont get into "voice overs" I am going to kick you in the seat of your pants". Eric you have a gift....use it!

ERIC : supreme VIDEO but your site is totally AWESOME as well.

here is a tiny bonus thingy I just now (2 minutes ago) found from the mSR :

I was flying it around in the front room.....if you lift it up two or three foot above your head and POINT IT NOSE IN in a steady hover
look at the front end of the canopy (belly side)

and see how the mSR is giving you A GREAT BIG SMILE in the happy face style

JPEE,

Thanks for your input on the EC type connectors, I appreciate it.. For the price at HobbyCity, I'm gonna splurge the buck 29 and get a few of the EC5's. It'll give me another small project to do.

I watched both of your video,, looking good on both.. Great job getting 'er down when the LVC kicked in. It didn't appear you had any troubles at landing. Hey, where did you get that "TALKING count down timer", I like that. Takes all the guess work out of time left on your pack, without looking at the TX. That can get ya in trouble.

Rick,
You're making Vic jealous, everytime you mention your "NOSE-IN" flying abilities.

Erick,

I watched your build video, and I'll have to tell ya, I'm very impressed with it. You and dad keep up the great work. There's a lot of people watching you and your videos, learning from each and everyone of them. Outstanding.

Here it is, my first offical day of retirement and it's raining.

Dave

THIS NOSE IN thingy is cracking me up.....

I remember once, when we were beginning to hover the CP in the two foot square circles,
LOOKYJ remarked that he was amazed by the lift-offs I was doing with the nose pointed at me.
Never did understand the significance of that, but analyzing it, it's quite different to tail-in.

here's what I did today, even went outside, although I am still under the FLU : I plan to return
to my employment, tomorrow, I think this mess is (or will be tomorrow) OVER

Again I managed to be OUTSIDE DE PICTURE FRAME for a great deal of the recording time : [>:]

Jeff,

I started to do some trimming on the Legend 450. Started with the main gear, cutting off the spokes.

I used a blow torch and a knitting needle.. I got the knitting needle red hot, then just sliced the spokes off. Fast and easy.. Not looking to make it look pretty, just lighter. I'm already getting into trouble....

Pictures are't great, mine never are.... with the 8 spoke it weighed 11.4 grams, 4 spokes 10. 7 grams, 2 spokes 10.1 grams

See pictures,

Dave
