Mr. JPEE,

That's my favorite western of all times. You are showing your age here, ya old PHART. With a cool talking timer.
I have the Mega Series on DVD, 80 episodes. This is serious cowboy stuff.

Gonna go and get into some more trouble if I can.. I'm having too much fun right now... Glad you're a member of the "Breakfast Club".
That's good times, for sure.

Hey Dave,

Is your Legend that XHELI like 55.00 job? If so would you take a few close up pictures for me without the canopy. I am working with a guy that got one and it has a real bad wobble in the head. I want to see your to see if he assembled something wrong. It has this terrbile vibration as it spools up. I rolled the main shaft, I took off the head and put mine on which helped but did not make the cure. We re-balanced my and his blades plus a third set. She flies but on spool up just before mid stick the head shakes so bad that the top cap look a 1/4" out! Then with a bit more rpms she is mooth as glass and the head button is smooth clear to the eye and no longer blurry.

JPEE
ps: use my email for this please

JPEE...the legend is actually a cross between the HoneyBee King v2 and a T-Rex 450. The best way to isolate the problem is one step at a time....check first to see if the tail rotor shaft is bent...yes...really. If not, proceed up the chain. After checking tail shaft, I'd pull the rotor head and spin it up to see if the large tail pulley is out of round or main shaft is bent. I'll tell you this, their main shafts are almost soft as butter. Good places to start. Albet it's either tail rotor shaft, front pulley, or main shaft....normally where vibes occured on the King v2.

Thank you for an awfully strange visualization of a honeybee and a dinosaur mating!

Hi ya guys! Looks like everyone is busy and staying occupied. Winter has approached the great Pacific Northwest and I have rekindled my interest in some of my small coaxial helis. Got the bladeCX2 dialed in but am having toilet bowl effects with my lil MCX. As far as i can tell...the flybar is just fine. I don't remember ever crashing the lil bugger but I did notice that one of the upper blades seems to have a slight deformity. Both blade sets track straight and true but that lil deformity has me wondering. OK Eflite Guru's........... the guy who still has 6 eflite helis is asking for some guidance here. TBE............ what causes it on the MCX?

As you guys can tell.......I can't get rid of anything. I still have the carcasses of 5 planes in the house. I have fixed up 2 for the neighbor to hang from the trees on our driveway(we have a shared driveway but it's his property). All the Blade CP's are still here and haven't seen any action for...........well.......just too dang long. I did fly the Trex and the Century Swift this summer but ended up laying the Swift over at the flying field when I hit Throttle Hold at the end of my flight. Remind me to set up all the functions the same when programming a heli into a new radio!

I finished up the AT6 last week and installed the switches for the RX battery (5 cell 1600mAh NiMH) and also the main battery arming switch . Now I have to rebalance the planes CG because of the added weight in front of the wing spar. A bit of a pain in my small overcrowded front room with a 71" wing. Maiden of that plane prolly wont be till early spring. Setting up mechanical retracts on that was a bit of a chore as well. I bought some retract reinforcement boxes from a guy here on RCU. Seems the plastic retract boxes have a tendancy to break on anything but perfect landings. Thes reinforcements are actually aluminum CNC "wraps" that sandwich the plastic housing without interfering with the retracts operation. Well spent $30 for one less thing to worry about.

Dave,
Sorry to hear about your situation but as you have many times referred to in this thread........ YOU are from the tough streets and I have every confidence you will come out smelling like a rose! Jacki says Hi and still hasn't gotten me a frame for the letter and $5 bill you sent me! (See if anyone remembers why you sent me that!)

Vic,
I don't remember if I shared the news about the J3 Cub I got from you so long ago. I did get it flying......... A brushless setup with ailerons (those didn't work out so well so now are taped in place) but she flys great on a 20C 11.1V 800mAh lipo. After I taped off the ailerons I forgot to switch the servo leads to the aileron slot on the RX. The first flight wasn't pretty but I finally got her figured out and take it with me every time I go to the field. It is just too sweet seeing it fly so scale like and with my $.36 in the front cowl it tracks straight and true. I think I need to work on the thrust alignment on the motor tho........ By next summer it will be dialed in and may get used as a second trainer plane after my nephew conquers his Slow Stick I gave him.

A great howdy to all of ya and Rick especially! I would toss JMicheal a smooch but he never got ahold of me this summer or fall........ Must be able to smell me all the way from his place in Sequim.........heh! (Thats pronounced Skwim)

LMAO...I didn't design it, I just call it like I see it. What they did was put the front tail pulley (sprocket) on the main shaft instead of using that unreliable little tail drive unit that is installed in the frame. It has it's benefits, and drawbacks BUT it is a better design than the tail drive unit that mounts in the frame as it's less apt to break, and makes the heli more quiet. Drawbacks are the way the sprocket attaches to the main shaft, possible slippage, warped sprockets, stuff like that. The Legend has an EXI part number, and except for a few minor differences, it is an EXI, main shafts are soft for the most part as are the tail rotor shafts. I KNOW my EXI's....

Tracy...what happened to the BIG Corsair you were building?

Still building it Vic........... Been trying to put out some more of these little fires before I attack that big one. I built the flaps and marked and drilled, then removed material on the trailing edge of the wings to install my Robart hinge points. I drilled them at angles like the instructions suggested and it changed the way my flaps mounted to the wing. Darn foolish English instructions! At that point i got pretty pi**ed about the whole project and laid it aside. Winter is here and I am jonesing to fix and restart the flaps and really have to have them "perfect " before I can finish by dry fitting the ailerons, rudder and elevator. Then a final sand and dusting......... a light coat of sanding sealer........ sand again then putty any imperfections and then can finally start covering. I figure a good 40 hrs of work left. At that point it too will go on the ceiling until spring and as soon as I can get out to the flying field and "manicure" the runway then will be able to maiden it also. With the time spent on this one I will be asking one of the elder club members to buddy box with me and help me get it trimmed and teach me some landing techniques. It will be running on a 6S 5000mAh 25C at the least. I will probably use a Castle Creations Pheonix Ice 80A. Those new Ice ESC's are quite the bomb! Data logging built into the ESC.......Kool!
Its on my mind.....just not on the building table.......heh

I programmed flaperons on my Uproar. The first thing I did was take off without the flaps down. When it was WAY up, I dropped the flaps as well as throttled back and it was an instant "nose down" caused by dropping flaps which required an immediate and good amount of up elevator to keep the nose level. It slowed to a crawl and balloned upward nicely....I knew I had the flaps thing down at that point. Actually, the Uproar don't need flaps....it handles well at slow speeds BUT....now I know how they work and they are FUN to mess with. The Uproar flys real nice and is quite aerobatic...but no knife edge or 3D with it. I pulled my OS .40FP off it and installed a BIG electric brushless running a 40a ESC and 2200mAh 20c's(x2 with a "Y" harness)....it even has positive vertical running a 12x6 prop.

Hope to see your Corsair completed and successfully maidened....video would be cool.....

I will definately share the results of my labors.......... It may be one of those condolences threads or could possibly be one of the startings of a beautiful awesome flyers. My first scratch build and I took on one that isn't recommended for a novice builder.

Uproar.......... I am actually thinking of getting one of the TH .40 sized ones myself. $50 bucks delivered and with some slight mods to the rudder and elevator I have seen some awesome flights with those. I think the "hots" is what you get when you modify one. Its my fav sim 3D plane on the sim. I turn the wind up to 16 MPH gusty and it just plunks around in a harrier when facing the wind!

JPEE ~

Great flights with the 600 ! She sure looks purty up in the sky for sure... Keep them coming... Gotta convince Dave to get his up there in that open sky and not in any barns ya know...?? !

Dave ~

Cool on the gears ! I didn't go that far, but you'll have to let me know how that happens to work out for sure... I did my 500 gears a bit, and so that will help with just 7.53 g's of less mass to swing from the motor. And also help reduce the ESD or static that the 500 is popular for especially coming out of the main gears. I guess reducing some of that plastic helps, but dunno as I don't have a ESD tester but just heard it from a few over on Run-Ryder. Kinda interesting though...

Rick ~

Some nice backyard flights with the mSR... We all know Vic wants a couple so no worries...

Eric ~

Keep your instructional videos coming... Good stuff...

Well if it wasn't a 2 hour drive and about 107 miles ! LMAO... I guess the ferry could be a bit quicker, but that is then still venturing through Seattle... Eh... I haven't even been to Seattle for like 10 years. I was there however a year or so ago when I had to hit the airport to go to Cali though... Everytime I went there before in that area Seattle, Federal Way, Tacoma, Kent, my car always got broken into ! LMAO... Not to mention I do watch the news, and the crime there is to intense for this country boy. I just don't like crowds also, and that whole area gives me way to much anxiety.... But it would be cool someday to maybe venture over that way for sure, just no guarantee's ! I might need one of them bullet proof vests or somethin'...

But when I was in Central Cali when I was staying down there, we went down to L.A. for awhile, and I gotta say I about crapped my drawers ! WOW, on I-5 there are motorcycles zipping inches by your side-mirrors, there was so much garbage on the side of the freeway I about died, and the smog was something like I've never seen... My dad definately got the idea that I never wanted to return there, I was ready to leave ASAP...! LOL...! So Seattle isn't so bad in comparison however... It was funny, because at first my dad was like, oh that's just fog... I'am like uh.... I don't think so, fog doesn't glow that color ! And doesn't make my eyes sting and water from my sensitive eyes.... Yikes... Everyone else agreed... I'am like nice try dad... You can see that pollution in the air from up in the sky from also like San-Fransisco... It has that deadly looking color to it. Crazy...

Funny how some of us live somewhat close like even Vic and Jay with just a bit of a 100 mile or so distance, and Kyle and Dave, but yet nobody has ever met up ?? We might have to fly in someday down to the Chopper mansion for a reunion one day ! I get to fly his 600 first !

Mine is the .40 sized, I bought the ARF....almost went with the kit. Yeah...more elevator aileron and rudder surfave with a good positive vertical, it could be a 3D easily. I did have it doing the harrier thing with the flaps in a 8mph wind. I doubt you'll stuff the Corsair, just make sure on the CG, lateral balance, engine angle, and all flight controls are exactly zero, it should be fine. That's what was awsome about the .40 uproar....everything lined up perfect, nothing unexpected and no bad habits....picture perfect take off the first time.

got up early and went to work.
when I get there, as I walk in a big attack of coughing comes up
so: I get this "deliverance" : go home and don't come back 'till U B BETTAH !!!

so I go to the Dr.'s office and wait 2 hours ( no appointment ) ... bad nooz :
I am now on INHALERS and antibiotics and mucus relievers ; what I got now
is CONGESTIVE OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE (signs of) or COPD

oohh GREAT .... puke puke

well, it looks like home confinement for at least until next Monday : my blood pressure
is WAY UP HIGH, in 6 days I have gained 5Lbs of weight for unknown reason ( been mostly
on Progresso Soups and toast ) but don't have signs of swelling anywhere so it's not water retention. (?)
the beginning of the END

chit , 'n I chust chined my choos

RICK (rest in peace) ... when they come to get me they will have to PRY my DX-7 out of my cold stiff hands
'cause I am on to mSR from now till next Monday, if I make it

LMAO.....Rick...AKA drama KING. Yer NOT gonna DIE from COPD which includes brochitis and emphysema (I know you don't smoke). SO...the anti-biotic would be for bronchitis, which makes you feel like yer gonna die. In 36 hours, coughing will dissapate markably...you'll be back to work by Monday....give the antibiotics time to work....rest for the next 36 hours, stay out of rain and cold. The inhaler is probibily Albuterol which will ease breathing for you. You may ask...."why do you think you know so much...yer not a doctor". Well, I have COPD with emphysema irritated by asbestos scarring in my lungs....I am an expert but not by choice. Had you NOT gone and seen the doctor, odds are the brochitis would have turned to pneumonia, and yes....that would have killed you, left untreated. I'm GLAD you went to the doctor....take all the meds as perscribed, I say 36 hrs, but you will feel much better in less than 24hrs....just not back 100%.

Better do as Vic says there Rick. We need you to be around to inspire us!

Damned if Vic asking about the Corsair last nite didn't get me all fired up. Its out in the front room and am plugging holes as we speak(the first 3 sets are drying now) Just 3 more sets to go and then I can redo my flaps and get the ailerons built today too. Those will be hinged nylon flaps. Then rudder and elevator and the build part is finished.

Jeff,
We for sure have to hook up a time or two this summer. I wouldn't mind coming over to visit for a day or two and do some flying by day and see how much the 7 Ceders Casino has grown since I stayed in Sequim last (10 years ago?)

Now....... who can tell me what is causing TBE on the lil MCX??

Tracy,

Glad to see ya checking in once in awhile, good to hear from ya. Sounds like you'll be busy this winter with lots of projects going.
The Corsair is looking good, but as you mentioned you still have a long way to go..

Not to worry about me and Mrs. Chopper, we'll be fine. I needed a BIG break anyway.

Tell Jacki I said HI and give her a hug and smooch from the old Chopper.

(Heck, I can't even remember why I sent ya the 5 bucks, man that's at least 2 years ago.)

You answered your own question on the TBE in August of 2008, see post #2.. LMFAO !

Two things come to mind readily,, You swash plate may have seperated, just squish 'em back together with needle nose pliers,
also, the flybar may be binding. The flybar has to move absolutely freely. Lube everything up with a splash of silicone spray. Check for any dirt or hair that maybe in the main gears too. You may want to resize the link on the flybar, or touch it up with some really fine grit sandpaper.

Doesn't take to much of anything to make these micros to act funny.

Love you guys,
Dave

LOL Dave!
I swear I wasn't flushing when it went in. I removed the flybar and checked the main gears...just did another test flight and still have the TBE so I will tear it completely down to the frame and start fresh, lubing with my trusty can of DuPont Teflon Silicone spray. I have to run out for some doodadds in a bit so will stop by the LHS and get me a new flybar and set of blades.
Just for a quick reminder about the $5............ you sent me the note and cash (postmarked) 15 May 2008. Any posts previous to that will give you guys a place to start looking for the reason Dave sent the money! The race for knowledge is on!!!

Still plugging the holes and may end up redesigning the flaps, I have all the pieces I need to rebuild the 2 center flaps and could then go with new hinge point holes in the TE of the wing. Bought a scroll saw and am always looking for reasons to use it.......heh.

I just spent the better part of 30 minutes looking for that post. Was that in a PM or was it in the thread?

got up early and went to work.
when I get there, as I walk in a big attack of coughing comes up
so: I get this ''deliverance'' : go home and don't come back 'till U B BETTAH !!!

so I go to the Dr.'s office and wait 2 hours ( no appointment ) ...

So Rick.....Did Wendy get you straight on the inhaler? The other from Albuterol (red or powder blue dispenser) is Combivent which has ORANGE plastic dispenser. DO NOT "overdose" the Combivent...it causes your throat to "close off"....dunno why, but it does me and it ain't FUN. Get your rest, stay dry and warm....tomorrow, you'll feel GOOD, BUT CONTINUE meds as perscribed until they are gone....that's important....finish the meds, especially the antibiotics.

Hi Fellas,

When I purchased my Trex 600 and the Bantam Charger. I didn't have a power supply with enough guts to power the Bantam Charger.
I looked around and found several, anywhere for 40 to 90 dollars and up. I thought about it and figured all I could use it for was my heli battery stock. I did a little tiny research and found that an Automotive Battery charger would do the trick.

So I went to Sears and got a Die Hard Charger for 40 bucks and it works very well and fits the bill precisely. The plus side is that if needed, I can charge car batteries, motorcycle batteries and all. That too, is a win win situation. It has 3 ranges: 2 amps, 10 amps and 50 amps.. More that enough to power several chargers.

Hey BOB's

Today I bought a older thunder tiger 50 size muffler for my Vision 50. It coming along I did the decals on the canopy last weekend so it doesn't look like a cut up milkjug All that is left is to buy the 600mm main blades, Solid-G gyro and JR 8900G tail servo for major parts. Then the small stuff fuel, starter, and Misc. stuff and I should have it flight ready. It looks like I will finish it WAY ahead of projected time frame, so maybe Jan or Feb(my b-day is in Feb$$$$) at the latest.
