Jeff, did you notice how responsive the flybarless head is? They of course come out with electronics to compensate for it that costs a fortune BUT, it's do-able with a programmable radio (without the added electronics)....the expo and dual rates are lower than low to get it to fly because it is super responsive without a flybar. I've many times considered it, and it's still not off my radar screen of things to try.

Are you kidding...?? ! That's what gave me the biggest woody ever ! LMAO.....( you know me).... But yeah, eventually I want to get a stab unit for sure. The Skookum's are good, and not so bad in price but still about $250-$300.00 bucks... The best on the market currently is the Mikado V-Bar, and then even the newest which is the Mikado Mini-V bar... BUT $450-500.00 bucks ! Yikes I know.....

Yeah some that go without a stab unit will start there expo out at like 60 or 70% and go down from there and usually end up at around 30-40%... They do have special weighted blades, and some get there CG lower to also compensate. And then just tweaking the radio some... But I'am dying to try ! The bigger the heli of course, the easier it is without a doubt... I've done a buttload of research, and so I'am really itching about it !

Here's a couple good threads about it :

http://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/t546219p2/

I seriously think you should try the multi-rotor unit.... If you google on You-Tube, or Vimeo for video's, you'd be surprised how stable the heli is with that unit and no stab unit.... Just include a few other tricks on the set-up of the heli, and your golden.... Seriously... Now go order one, and report back...!

Chopper Dave,
I’ll bet you’ll get my 5 min and still come in well under 4000 usable mAh. Your packs will do better once you start forward flight. Hovering as you know is heard on the motor thus you draw more amps.

Jeff,
I am sure your right with slimming down the HUGE paddles I would get some more poop out of the old girl. I took my pitch down to 90% which “really” helped. I might step it down again to 80% and go reeeeeeeal high up and try a flip and see what she does.

Jeff said; I've done a buttload of research, and so I'am really itching about it !
Dude, Preperation H will clear up that itch for ya!

Rick,
You and I have already talked tonight on a PM so you know what to do GET WELL!

Vic, stay warm!

JPEE ~

And you don't even have to slim them down.... The best ones that are the hottest right now are the KBDD paddles... They even come in different colors to assist in orientation. They offer to different mounting holes for wild or mild performance, and are lightweight, but still provide a larger surface area for more response. Everybody raves about them constantly on the forums. I'd get a pair, but I'am cheap ! So I just cut and hack up whatever padds are laying around here...

With the 600, I really doubt you'll feel a diff in stability, but a gain in when your doing your loops, and flips and such... When I took off the Logo's stock 26.5 gram padds and put on those 7 grams padds, I couldn't even tell any diffs at all just because the helicopter is larger. But it helped wonders then in some of the moves that I'd do with her... So just a thought for the future...

There cheap also, only like $12.00 or so... Just find your flybar size (since I don't know) and have a gander : (KBDD)

Here is a interesting post I found over at Runryder(I'm not cheatin on you guys or RCU, Vision 50 thread is over there )
So where do you fit in?

http://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/t554153p1/

JJMAN

One funny thing that I have noticed about our hobby is how there are different types of characters involved in it. Most that I've noticed, from going to Fun Flies and just at our flying field, fall into one of a few different categories.

Not saying there is anything wrong with any of them, but I have noticed the consistency of it.

NEW GUY- How far, how high, how much.

TWEEKER- Nothing is ever right, flies for 1 minute, lands and messes with the radio, flies for 10 seconds, lands messes with radio, repeat. It can be a pain waiting for your turn after this guy.

MOOCHER- Cannot do anything himself and wont learn how, constantly borrowing stuff also.

PO BOY- Doesn’t have 2 nickels to rub together but insists on trying to fly heli’s anyway. Fly’s an old TREX 450 that has parts from a blade CP and something that appears to be made from a milk carton.

COLLECTOR- Has about 27 heli’s, 4 of every model he has, doesn’t fly much because he’s too busy keeping up with all the heli’s he got.

BLINGER- Has the latest of every upgrade that can be found, spends most every night on-line looking for more upgrades to buy. He’s been known to die parts of his heli just to get the perfect color match.

BASHER- Tries to destroy the heli in-flight, bam, bam, flies around at like 2500 rpm and is so hard on the thing that it stresses every single bearing in the heli to the max. with every maneuver.

HOVER BOY- Been flying for 9 years but hasn’t progressed beyond the hover stage.

FIELD MECHANIC- Never touches his heli’s at home, does all his maintenance at the field.

HIGHLANDER- There can be only one! I'm right and everybody else is wrong, my stuff is better than your stuff and I know so much about everything, just ask, or dont ask, I'll tell ya anyway.

Im probably PO BOY/HOVER BOY with a with a EskycopterRexBElt and no $$$

although I haven't posted in a while, I've been keeping up with the thread lurking in the shadows and decided I'd chime in on this one....

I think at one point over the last few years, I've been in every category:

started off as the NEW GUY, then quickly became the BLINGER which lead to the COLLECTOR and now with the economy and lack of work I have become the PO BOY.
I've always wanted to be the BASHER able to fly insane 3D, but seems I'm more like an (ADVANCED) HOVER BOY.

Hope all is well with the BOB'S!
been keeping up with you guys and know we all have our ups and downs, but that's just part of life. Hopefully we all spend more time UP then DOWN (especially when flying the helis).

Can't say it enough, the group of guys on this thread is pretty special! And so glad to be a part of it.

Erick,

Kind of interesting on the names and there description. Over the last 4 years, I've been down most of those roads. But for now, after learning a lot things from all the great guys here on the Weeeeee Thread. I'm pretty much a Hover Boy (PLUS). Got over all that other stuff. LMAO ! Lordy knows how much $$$$$ I've spent.

Looky,

Thanks for checking in, we miss ya pal. We all have our ups and downs, right now mine is down after loosing my job. But, your right it's just a bump in the road. And we'll do fine. We are all surviors to say the least.

One thing I will NEVER forget is the picture you posted, when you were on top of that 17 story building and snap a picture.. That was awesome.. Oh, and then ya had to crash from 17 stories up too.. I've seen all your videos and you're an excellent flyer there, bar none.. Best wishes...

Dave

i had written about 20 lines, pressed the WRONG BUTTON and lost the whole thing :
so I summarize my prior post for the sake of time saving:

First, I had expressed how great it was to hear from th "J" out in Northridge; so glad to know he is OK...I was remembering him and yesterday received the TX battery replacement for the one he sent me, way back, a LIPO that works well on the DX-7
also I wondered about JIM WNUK from whom I haven't read anything in the longest time. (CITABRIA ??) just wondering.
Next I had entered great remarks about flying the m-SR in the front room. I have it trimmed/balanced to such a degree that for two
whole minutes the heli will hang motionless in the air (a/c is cut off) , and is perfect in every sense, will do fast/slow piros, FF, nosein,
forever...only input required is a spot of throttle to keep it from coming down in RPM from battery depletion. I highly HIGHLY recommend this little toy. Next I want to disconnect the connectors from the SWASH and reconnect them to the two balls that sit further out and increase the input for more sensitivity in the controls, but everything is so DARN MICROSCOPIC I wouldn't know even
how to disconnect/reconnect the darn tiny balls. My health is 90% improved and the m-SR is indoor activity that keeps me busy. I do not watch TV and my piano practice is down to two hours, plenty of heli time left.

I have never flown the RAPTOR but for two times, and it sits there in readiness. Too cumbersome, for me. I think I much prefer to stick with the small electrics.
For this reason I have sent off for a WALKERA 4G6 .... yes, another heli .... only this one is fully 3D (which I will probably NEVER get into, but still) make allowances for old timers' soft brain tissue. I will make a film of the WALKERA when it arrives.
if you are curious to see what this one is : go here : http://www.rchobbyhelicopter.com/

and go to the MICRO HELICOPTERS to search for the WALKERA 4G6///////////////////////the reason I got hooked up with tiny micro heli is that on the morning I went into the LHS to pick up the INNOVATOR, they were working,demo-ing the 4G6 and it was love at first sight. this truly is a miracle, way beyond even this great m-SR
and SO IT GOES

RICK....I'm SO glad you're better than yesterday but still, be careful cause it can turn bad FAST. I had my doc give me stronger anti-biotics, and I was in the hospital in less than 24 hrs after that, for a nice 6 day stay with pneumonia.

46G....LMAO, you just don't quit. Now I classify you as COLLECTOR/HOVER. Me...just hanging out, flew the Uproar twice, did some target work with my "cowboy pistol (.45 LC)....that's about it.

Another Perfect Day for me, wind was about zip, sunny and temperatures in the 50's.

I took the Legend 450 and the T-600 to my Aldis field. I flew 4 packs through the 450 with no
mishaps, and had a ton of fun with it.. Then the T-600, no mishaps there either, had a good time
with it. However, I’m still not thrilled with the settings in the TX.. I have to do a lot of tweaking
on the almost every setting to get it wHere I would like it.. I originally set the TX for a really tame flying
bird, and that’s exactly what it is... So, wheather permitting, I’ll get that done tomorrow.

I got home and charged the Brick battery for the T-600 and flew it again in the back yard..
I did make some changes in the Tx , but a long way to go.. Not a biggie of course.. Just time and
patience to get there.

Jeff,

I didn’t take my helipad with me and the results were, that the tail blades got a lot of grass stains. YIKES!!!!!!
No damage.... See pictures of the darn grass stains. LMAO !!!!

Battery Report:

Flight # 4:

Yeah...sounds about right, Ghettoite wondering where the "hood" went (LMAO).....couldn't resist guy
BTW...I FORGOT to also say something bout the grass stains on the tail blades. Been there a LOT...dish washing liquid detergent and a green scrub pad...they look like NEW again, but you DO have to take them off to do it....just makes it easier I've found.
I AM seriously looking at the EXI-500 at this point, but I hate the thought of "re-tooling" from the 450's.

Vic,

Going out to Leslies's is just an awesome experience, bar none.. Miles and miles of land.

I got the grass stains off the tail blades with some, hot water and a soap solution. Came right off.. I got it early and didnt' have a chance to set up, per say..(got that from Jeff "Per Say", but he's still a Kid, Lmao !!! Jeff

I smacked the Legend 450 up, in the back yard tonight... Should have zigged, instead of zagged... LOL ! Brain phart, ya know. Lol again. Blades and a flybar, that's it.. Flybar I can fix..

Later Gator,
Dave

Vic,

On the EXI 500, re-tooling may not be as bad as you think... Just check out what you have, and what you need. As far as Electronics, I'm thinking thats the biggest item.

I'm dead tired, going to bed.
