Still got it new in wrap, just waiting for new tail motors. I highly doubt it's the 4-1 tho. Unless you hook something up wrong or shumck your heli real hard, the 4-1 is pretty reliable.

ya crash....yer right, if it was the 4 in 1 I think I would have more symptoms pointing that direction. Just got back from drooling at the LHS. Am now looking at getting a TX / reciever/ servos so I can install on my blade when I get the lipo's. Am going to fly this blade until I am confident with my FF then jump into a TREX 450SE. At that time I will move all the stuff over to the new toy......and put the stock stuff back on the blade.
Talked at length to the GURU at HobbyTown in Tukwila.... (lil plug for those guys) He really laid it out plain for me. Buy now...and use on your simple stuff and when ready to upgrade yer already halfway there! Not that the blade CP is a simple item, as we all have found out, it has its own little love bites that keep you scratching your head and wondering why this darn thing thing won't do that special little move for me anymore.
Anyone have any thoughts on the DX6? Price has dropped significantly since the outbreak of the DX7 and still seems to have the capabilitys to fly a host of animals.
Also......My sis and her hubby are coming over tonite to spend the nite...... they are leaving for Vegas in the morning (I live about 5 miles from SeaTac) and she is bringing her camcorder over so will have her shoot some video tonite of my hovering techniques and how much drift, ect I get. will post in the morn when i get back from dropping them off.

If you're moving up to 400series...remember it's 400, not 300 (flying in house not good idea with 400). That's why I'm sticking to Blade CP and maybe CP-Pro in the near future. Size counts indoors. My flying outside is limited to late April to late October (indian summer in Nov not withstanding). I've seen it nearly 75deg during firearms deer season (Nov 15-30th) some years. I used to fly .40 nitro till it was so cold that you couldn't start your motor or you couldn't hold the TX, then I'd quit for the winter. Some guys brought 12v hair driers so they could warm up the engine enough to fire (die hards).

Lots of people have them and like them (Dave too). I've looked at them but never give much thought. They all have pros/cons I guess. For me, size is kinda critical so a 400 series might be pushing it...but that's me. I haven't heard bad about it just like I haven't heard bad on the CP-Pro.

thanks for the link to BPHobbies!

I ended up stocking up on motors as well! got me 4 main and 4 tails... you never know when they're gonna go. And at those prices why not get a few extras.

Dave, gonna try the "break in" you posted earlier. Thanks for the tips, and I agree half the fun is building, rebuilding, and modifying these little birds.

Do you think BPHobbies noticed a surge on motor orders?

I got my two N30's today. Packaged for E-Sky. Installed one...back to the tail motor whipping to compensate for another problem (hummmmmmm). I can't quite dial it out with the gain but I got it close once and actually had a hover. Going to change the 4-1 to the new one to see if I can calm it down. It almost acts like the tail motor is glitching...but nothing else is. Any glitching I've seen effects all servos too but this isn't the case. BTW...keep your lock washers off your old tail motors because E-Sky only sends FLAT washers with it unless you want to do the blue loc-tite thing on the screws. As far as the E-Sky motors (N-30's), no real difference other than the number of teeth on the pinion (2 bucks cheaper and they work).

Update...I didn't change the 4-1 because I didn't see the right symtoms. I kept dialing on the gain and it's real close. I can hover a full charge without loosing it. Stability has improved by 100%. Got a 3ft hover to hold good for a few minutes so I know its a matter of working it out. Looking BETTER.

Did some more adjusting and stuff...getting to be where it was a couple weeks ago when I was hovering every day. Some weird math involved. The less pitch, the higher the RPM of the main rotor, the more stable things become. Things are falling into place here. Thigh and waist high hovers working out well. Keeping the dog back until I trust it again (no need in swatting her with a blade again). Even so confident that I put the fuselage back on to fly it. Eurieka? We'll see.

Success...got things to calm down without the 4-1 change, like old times again...hovering my hiney off with LOTS of control. Very gratifying to have it under control. Now I want to go outside but it's way too cold (like 16 deg). Mid 30's is pushing it with these things. New main motor, new tail motor, blade pitch adjustments...it's there.

Lookyj,
I'm a day or so late, always fall behind on the forum.

Nice pic of your pro, like all the metal parts. Something I'll do down the road. The Pro is one I'll have a long time, cuz it's easy to repair and can fly in the house or garage on bad weather days.

Arrownaughthtic:

Gun oil is fine, to lube the bearings on the main or tail motors, or any other parts you need to lube. Hey, the "Rifleman" uses it. I'm watching him now, in fact. Just a drop will do it, wipe off excess with a Q-Tip.

DX6 or DX7, if in the budget get the DX7, more features, has 5 throttle curve positions, DX6 only 3. The DX6 was what you may call a prototype to see if the market would do, obviously it went gang busters, tiny antennas, no worry about channel conflicts, there are none. No interference. I like to think long term, I have the DX6 only because the DX7 wasn't available at the time I got my Trex.
They have a DX4 for RC Racing Cars too. Spectrum has hit the market and will succed at it. More will follow with the technology.

Crash:

Sounds like your getting back into some good hovering. Sometimes you need to go back and forth on the proportiona and gyro gains to make it the way you want. Everyone flys a tad different.

Pitch adjustment, dude, you hit the nail on the head, need more head speed. Makes a difference doesn't it. Keep playing with the adjustments, I do it all the time. Less pitch more head speed and less labor on the main motor. I've got mine adjust for pitch so that I need about 65 to 70 percent to hover 3 feet.

How ya doing after all that surgery stuff?

Later guys, I'll post pictures of my motor break in, in a few minutes, gotta have a beer,

Dave / Choppersrule

Hi Fellas,

Here's a few pictures of my motor brake-in thingie.

Pic 1: Bowel of ice, one 1 1/2 volt D cell battery, motor in ice. (Soldered wires to battery and used alligator clips, makes it easier to hook up)

Pic2: Close up of motor in the ice.

Pic3: My work area, a little messy but you get the idea, I use a bath towel on the bench when working on the heli, that way when I drop a screw, nut etc. It doesn't bounce off onto the flow and get lost.

Dry with heat gun or hair dryer, a drop of lubrication on top and bottom bearing, good to go.

I leave mine running for 30 to 45 minutes, after about 10 minutes of running, you can actually hear a difference in the motor smoothing out. Obviously, because of the lower voltage the motor runs pretty slow.
