Re #273- Enough said when you have nothing to lose. I am willing to bet if you had land next to an airport you would not put a pole in line with the runway regardless who came first. Stupid statements are easy when you are not writing the check. Mike Krizan

Well, it's been a year since this thread died, what ever happened? was the problem resolved? reading all those pages and not finding out what happened is like reading a good book and finding out you don't have the last chapter.

thanks to anyone that answers, you can pm me if you don't want to add to the thread.

Jason

Hammer stood his ground with the resolve needed and Hammer field is now OK. No thanks to like of Sandy Frank, Jim Brainuam, or Easytiger.

Maybe Sledge will chime in and disclose more

I'm very glad to hear that everything worked out. I'm involved in a new club that is trying to find a field but we mostly fly indoors so the field thing may not be important to us, we really haven't decided yet. another club has suggested sharing their field with us and since they are down to very few members it may be better for us and it may keep the field from going away.
Good flying to all at hammer field.

For long established airports the AMA rules do make a bit of sense. For someone to build next door and the complain about the noise is the height of stupidity. To illegaly demand that you forego any of your property rights forever is an even higher degree of stupidity. If all the help we can expect from AMA is to promote an agreement written by the dimwit that started the whole thing then I will believe AMA is equally dimwitted. We have been flying in our area as an AMA chartered club for over 13 years and our only contact with our District VP is his picture in MA. He has plenty of time to visit other states and other flying clubs but doesn't even know we exist. AMA's flying site assistance rep. has been here several times and is knowledgeable and helpful. Your District VP apparently has other fish to fry and you can go to hell. He doesn't need you or want you. AMA HQ is equally insensitive. If you need donations to help with lawyer's fees count me in.

Lessee, you're in District 10 aren't you? I met your VP, Rich Hansen when I started warbird racing at Mesa, AZ. He was the SWRA prez at the time, lived in the Phoenix area. When I formed the SWRA Chapter at Horizon City, TX, he couldn't have been more supportive. He competed at the first race I CD'd at Horizon City and gave me lots of help. I'd sure vote for him in D-8 if I could. Have you ever written to him or his AVPs? Have you asked him/them to come by?

If you live in a small town like mine I feel for you. My VP couldn't go 60 miles out of his way to come see us when he went pressing the flesh in San Antonio. Nor could he bother to go see what was going on in Arkansas when this Hammer field business first came up.

I'd sure rather have your guy than mine. Want to swap?

CR

Please read my earlier posts in this thread. Just because someone builds a private airport on their land, doesn't prevent you from building a 75 foot flagpole on your land.

Enough said??

Yes, actually, it does.

And you will be on the hook if someone gets killed.
What kind of person deliberately puts up a flagpole in the path of oncoming aircraft? That's just plain DISTURBED.
Notice the flagpole came down?
I don't know what the whole deal is between these two parties, but it sure looks like a Hatfield/McCoy situation.
I do hope they worked it out.

Subject: Hammer Field VS SWF on RcUniverse

Gentlemen,

There is still an open thread on RCUniverse regarding the incidents that transpired between your two organizations. There still seems to be a good bit of interest in what has transpired in past two years since the thread was started. Could one of you or even both, please post an update or send me an email to put closure to this open thread.

Thank you very much for your time,
