I'm glad the whole club was there to witness the event because no one would believe this story. Every year our club has a club member only event called ICY Carb Day on the first sunday of each year. Most of the club members try, and fly as we give away a pretty good prize to one of the pilots whos fly by drawing names from a hat. The only rule is that the plane has to takeoff make at least one circuit of the flying field and land and be able to take off agian, regardless of weather conditions. Now some years its really bad and some years its like summer. This year it was a in between kind of day slight rain at the time and 50 degrees I had my CMP Cessna 182 there so that s the plane i used to make my "official" flight. I had been flying for a few minutes making low passes, rolls, loops and general flying when a member asked if he could try the controls. He'd liked the looks of the plane and wanted to see how it handled. I told him no problem here have fun. After about a minute of flying he made the comment on how mushy the elevator seemed. I told him I never noticed it but I did have the radio set at low rate and lots of expo dialed in. He replied, " sure but how come no down." I looked over and he had full down held at the sticks. I told him to pull up, he did and nothing happened all the way to full up. He started rocking the stick from full up to full down and nothing. HMMMMMMMMMMMMM. I took the plane back and sure enough NO ELEVATOR!!!!! At about half throttle it held altitude but at higher throttle if climbed and at lower throttle settings if came down. I continued to fly the circuit using power to gain or lose altitude. I had full aileron and rudder and throttle. I did a lower pass and felt out the decent rate and then told the rest of the club to be in a HEADS UP mode as was going to try and make a landing.. Chuckles and, yea rights were heard from the pit area, along with ,"this should be real good." I turned final and using power to set up the descent made my approach. At about 10 ft full power to stop the descent and rasie the nose a little then full idle. Bounch, Bounch pop, the prop struck the ground and it was over.. One of the club members walked out to the plane and grabbed the elevator and shouted" Sure enough no Elevator." On further looking it appeared the elevator clevis had poped off the control horn, in flight. Dumb me I forgot to put a piece of fuel line on it to keep it closed, my safety mistake all the other clevis' had the keepers in place. Sure glad I had this one balanced where I did.

Guess thats my g'me for this year.

Pete

Ummmmmmmm naaaaaaa dont think so with a CMP Cessna182. Been flying R/C for over 30 yrs, and first time this ever happened and I got away with it. I did have a Super HOTS the had a full left rudder in lock position and landed it. was a wild slip all the way to the ground.

Actually they're not, just 2 incidents in 30 years. The rudder went full left when I was doing a tail slide and the rudder servo went over center and locked in that direction. The elevator clevis was a mistake on my part of not putting a small piece of fuel line on it to keep it closed. Both aircraft lived to fly again.
