No hole's, You gotta make um', Mount it any way you want, Vertical is best with a Box type Muff pointing down, I use a Dubro remote Ignition plug I mounted in the cockpit, The only hole you make in the cowl is the needle valve Very clean.

I mounted mine (Saito 91) in about the 8 oclock position to line up with the dummy engine. This putes the needle valve out the bottom of the cowel I like to put a 1/8" hole to access the low end adjustment. I then make up a guide tube (outer nyrod tube) glued in place on the firewall which keeps the screwdriver perfectly aligned. I use a remote glow driver also, which you can put anywhere you want. I aligned the crankshaft with the center of the hole in firewall and it came out dead center of the cowel.

Thanks John. Did you draw a template first or just freehand it? I suppose they were painted freehand on the real thing.

Carl. If you fixed the wing incedence problem ,and have the CG in the correct spot (measured on top wing) the first flights will be a piece of cake. Point it into the wend, and roll on the power. It will be airborn in just a few feet. Once you get used to it you will be able to make more scalelike takeoffs. The landing is the hardest part. Get it as slow as you dare to shorten rollout. Practice this up high to feel out its behaveyor. Much rollout at all will produce a groundloop, and probably a noseover. It is much easier from grass. I think highflyer got the lola from Badbrad graphics....................................antiquefer.

hey antiquefer,
i'm building mine now and have got into the wing incidence problem. do you think it would be worthwhile to buy a wing incidence meter to set it up, or can you eyeball it and get it close? never had to deal with incidence before, but want to learn. any help is appreciated. i have all wings on, nothing glued and it looks straight on the bottom and mid wing.

FOKKERFREAK. You can do it without an incadence meter. Tape a stick to the bottom of the bottom wing with a few inches sticking out past the leading and trailing edges. Level the plane so that both ends of the stick measure the same distance to the work surface. With another stick on the bottom of the top wing, adjust the wing till the ends of the stick measure the same from the work surface. This will make the wings the same at least. The NM DR1 has a flat bottom airfoil so this method will work. If you still need to you can redrill the holes in the bottom end of the front cabane struts to allow them to mount lower which will bring the leading edge down some more. If you do decide to get an incadence meter the Hanger Nine digital meter is the one you want. I have learned the hard way that some of the less expensive arfs dont always have things inline..................................antiquefer.
