Skorman,
That is the main reason I put a 2 stroke in mine. Dubro and all the other manufactures of silocone extensions do not recommend them for four stroke due to there much highrer exhaust temperture. Call them if you do not believe me. You could get a piece of teflon tubing from Central Hobbies since that is the only non-metal material that will withstand the exhaust temps.

McMaster Carr has teflon tubing with a high temperture rating up to 500 degrees. I priced out a piece for an OS 91 FS, .375 ID X .500 OD and it came out to $8.36 per foot. You can find clamps there too.

I am using a Magnum 91 fourstroke. with a 14x6 apc prop and I have a problem. After I put on the spinner back plate, the prop, the prop washer, and the nut, I dont have any threads left for the spinner adapter. Anyone else run into this problem?

Chris,
First off, how many turns can you get it on before it bottoms out? You could run a wood prop which has a much thinner hub. I am running True Turn spinner which has a thinner back plate, there is plenty of room. Although I am talking about a 2 stroke Magnum, the cranks are identical in length. I also allways pin my spinner backplate to the drive washer with a 3/32 needle bearing. I have never had an aluminum spinner loosen up. By doing this, you eliminate the possibility of the aluminum to aluminum from slipping, then the knurling on the spinner really does the work of keeping it tight. You could probaly eliminate the double nut setup and use a conventional spinner adapter which would fit fine.

I can only get that spinner adapter on about three turns. Not to comfortable with that. I have a 14x6 wooden Zinger prop that fits on there fine, I have always been partial to APC props though. I have had plenty of magnum 91 four strokes with many apc 14x6 props with spinners on them and I have never had this problem before. Its mind boggling.

Steve,

This is how I have been holding my exhaust deflectors on for over four years with no problems. It is .032 stainless steel safety wire used in aviation maintenance, but I'm sure any good wire will work.

Chris - The adapter REPLACES the prop nut. It does not go on WITH (or on top of) the prop nut. The included adapter nut will not fit the OS .91, you will have to get one with the right threads. You need 5/16 - 24 for the OS.

The included spinner is so heavy and out of ballance, I replaced it.

Thanks for the info gunfighter. All I have to do now is figure out the flaps with my radio. If anyone knows about the Futaba 7C and flaps, please refer to post 220.

Gunfighter,
I bought a custom cut True Turn for mine. My stock spinner was so out of ballance that when you let go of it on the magnetic ballancer, it would do two rev's on its own.

The spinner adapter nut that came with my RV-4 fits the OS 91FS perfectly.

That looks like a great idea. Thanks for the tip Mike.

Mine fits my Magnum 91 as well, which has the same 5/16 24 thread. I checked Towers website and it says the spinner adapter that comes with the plane is a 3/8 24 thread.

Mine came with a 3/8 - 24 thread adapter and I needed a 5/16 - 24 for my OS .91 Surpass.

I assumed that all the planes came with the same adapter, therefore, you would need to get another one. I guess they just throw in any adapter and leave it to chance??

If someone finds an effective way to balance that aluminum spinner, let me know. Like Motorman said, Mine was so out of balance I could not use it without vibrating the nose of the plane off! AND it is VERY heavy!
