Hey Keith,

I'll be using the Gorilla Glue. I have had real good success with this glue, not only on hinges. I have a TF GS P51 Kit that is in the final stages of the build and I even used the Gorilla glue on sheeting the wings....it really turned out great!!.........

The bond is strong and it fills in the gaps really well. You have to kind of baby sit it when doing the hinges becasue for the first 30min or so it will begin its expansion and you'll want to keep that wiped off as it puffs out from around the hinge.

I think you'll like it.!!

Talk to you later,

Mike

Thanks Mike,

I've heard alot about the new expanding glues but have never tried them. When I get to that point, I'll give it a try.

I use Gorilla glue on all my Pin hinghes now and it works a lot better and I think it s easier to work with than epoxy.

You just have to stick arround and keep cleaning the foam for about 30 minutes and keep moving the surfaces to make sure they dont ge stuck togeather but it very easy to use and it wipes right off with water!!!!

I have no plans to change the scheme on the 84" Edge 540T, at least not at this time. I've thought about it but the current scheme is very distinctive.

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to put out a quick note on the engine installation. I noticed that the kit came with 2 engine templates (TOC 53 and DA50 template) Also the firewall is marked with what appears to be the center thrust line cross hairs. I had mentioned it to Tom and was wondering if you could just line up the template with the cross hairs to get the mounting location.

Well glad Tom had me checking it with the cowl alginment before drilling. Its off by at least an 1/8" as seen in the photo's. (The red marked circles to the right of the spacing washers/stand-offs were the locations marked with my DL50 template lined up on those cross hairs.)

It did give me a good place to start, but make sure and go through the alignment process that Tom has outlined. Takes a little extra time, but well worth it.

Actually I asked you to let me know the correct position. Could you do that here?

If it's off 1/8", which direction?

Hey Tom,

Sure will......sorry I guess I must have blanked on that for some reason....

Give me a little time because I'll have to disassemble the engine and stand-offs in order to get the correct information. I want to be able to put the DL template over the current hole positions and mark the current center compared to the one marked from the builder.

I probable should have done that just to see how far it was off after lining it up to the cowl.

I'll let you know ASAP.

Mike

Here you go Tom,

Got the engine off tonight and made the measurements. When looking at the front as in the picture the Red cross hairs is the acutal thrust centerline using the DL50 template and cowl line up.

That put it 3mm right and 3mm down from the orginal cross hairs. Hope this helps!
