Received the new Edge, what a plane! (See pictures) The quality is way better than the first one and I have both. The covering and construction are incredible. The fuse is a bit longer and a lot wider. There is more room than I know what to do with including a ton of space below the large front tray.
Since the fuse is wider, the wings are a bit shorter than the old Edge. The hatch has two dashboards (naturally this is a 540T) and a nice tinted canopy. As Tom said, there is more engine room. I have started the hinging process, but I'm a slow builder (have to work to pay for this stuff) so if anyone wants to jump in and start a build thread here feel free. I'll post pictures as I build and finish with a flight video hopefully soon.

A lot of thought went into this design. Good job Tom!

Forgot to mention that the pictures of the side by side fuselages and wings are a comparision of the old Edge and the new one so you could see the differance.

I have the version one edge and absolutely love it.

Hi does the new one have a built up wing instead of a foam wing?

Technically this is V3 or a whole new plane that is an edge.

From what i have seen, the version with the ailerons going all the way to fuse was with the old design and old builder.

V1 was original Edge 84 built in Thailand.
V1.1 was that same plane with full length ailerons.
V2 is the new one made in China.
V3 does not exist.

Wing area of V3 is 1390 sq. inches. I should have fudged it and said 1400.

Cowl width at F1 is a hair over 10".

V2 ailerons are not full length but are about twice the area of V1.1.

Compared t the V1 or V1.1 Edges, the V2 Edge flies much lighter, has way better aileron authority, little or no wing rock in an elevator or harrier, and is generally a better plane.

I received mine last Friday, and I am equally impressed with the construction, finish, etc. Give me about 2 weeks and I'll have it up in the air - weather permitting here in Minnesota. Ths plane is incredibly light and strong. The covering is the best job I've seen on an ARF from the east.

My only criticism thus far is with the quality of the lettering - Up close they look sort of "hand cut". Maybe it's just the style of lettering.

TheFoxes,

Where do you fly, I fly over at ACRC on HWY 65? I'd like to see the new version fly this spring so I can compare it to the WH Edge I put together last summer. I see by the internet that the weather has gotten more winter like. We are in Hawaii for the rest of the month, today it will be sunny and 75.
