I could use the help of someone who has either the Hanger 9 or the World Models 60 Mustang, or both. I am trying to determine if there is enough room in the WM 60 'stang to mount the H9 60 scale exhaust from Keleo. To that end I need to know the measurements of each at the firewall and at the exhaust stacks, width wise. At this point I have not purchased either plane, as I am trying to do as much research as possible beforehand. I am definately leaning towards the WM, as I hear it is the better version.

I ran out of space when I first posted this, as I was at work and on my PSP- it has a limit on how many characters you can put in at any one time. I wanted to add that I am a big fan of what I have seen of Kelvin's work, though I dont own one of his exhausts yet, but hope to soon. Also wanted to say thanks in advance to any help or suggestions anyone has in this area, it is greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch for that, it's a start. Now I need the stats for the WM and I may be in business. After being in contact with Kelvin though, it is not sounding promising. Evidently the WM is significantly smaller in width than the H9, but I have yet to get both measurements to be sure.

I don't know much about the world version of the plane but my H-9 looks great.
preping for the assembly now been a bit buisy so just getting the parts in order its a clean looking ARF if it fly's as good as my H-9 P-40 it will be a winner for sure allot has been made of the retracts being week mine seem to be fine not sloppy at all and looking good.

I have to agree with big Tim I have the Hangar-9 bird and it looks really nice. Covering is perfect, and I do not know what all the complaining about the landing gear is about. I have already picked up A Robart air tank kit used and am looking for Retracts for a deal before I start building but I am starting to think I may just go with th stockers. I even got the cheaper Hitec servo working in my Hangar-9 P40 retracts ($30 opposed to $60.00 for JR ) I am a strong beliver that you get what you pay for so I may invest the $$ in the Keleo exhaust that must look so cool. I have to wonder how many posts whining about the gear are coming from people with actual experience and not just keybord junkies?

I suspect the reputation for weak gear is a left over of the earlier gears that were supplied with the kits. The new kits have an upgraded gear and are suppose to be much stiffer wire.

I have 2 stangs from Raidentech (60 size Marie version), flies/looks great, complete with stock retracts for $135 bucks. Don't see why one would spend twice the amount for H9 stang.

I still need the help of someone who has a World Models 60 Mustang who can measure the width at the firewall and exhaust stacks. Thanks for stating the merits of the H9 and China models 'stangs, but that info is of little use for what I require. Any help with this data is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Johnny, it's appreciated. Although I am beginning to think it is not possible to squeeze the H9 Keleo exhaust into the WM, but the numbers will tell the tale. I'll be anxiously awaiting those measurements anyway. Who knows, maybe somebody else will find a way to get the scale exhaust shoe horned in there. According to Kelvin at Keleo, I'm chasing a lost cause and since he is the guy who makes the exhaust, i think he would know. I'm hoping like hell he is wrong, though

Hey Catbutt,

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you with the measurments but I didn't pick up the kit until yesterday.

Width at center of firewall is.....4 9/16 inches

Width at exhaust stacks is........5 inches. This is kind of hard to measure it could be a bit less maybe 4 7/8 inches.

If I were you I think that I would go with the H9 Mustang. There are some nice things about the WM. It has airfoiled tail surfaces and flaps. Thats about it. The H9 is better quality. WM retracts are plastic junk with no positive up and down locks. They do lock but there is no adjustment. Also the build quality is better on the H9. This is my second WM Mustang and both have had problems out of the box. On this new one there is bad sheeting that is cracking on the right top wing panel. It was not crushed in shipping, just a real bad piece of wood. At this point I wish I would of purchased something else. I don't know if Airborne Models is going to help me out on this or not. I have a call in to them but no reply as of yet. Save yourself some grief and get the H9 kit instead.

The World Models is a great flying bird but I have had 2 and both of them had quality control problems right out of the box.

Hope this is helpful.

I hear the fake exhaust stacks for the H9 and WM are in different locations and sizes, which will make mounting of the Keleo unlikely. I was told the stacks on the WM go nearly to the end of the cowl, and since the Keleo exhaust is made for the H9 version, it seems it wont exit in the same place. I really wish I could get a first hand view of both planes side by side to tell the true tale. As of the current time, I am near to giving up on this as a future prodject. Kelvin is booked solid right now anyhow, so perhaps in time it may be possible, but it doesnt look good ATM.
