I'm not sure about the 4.5" wheels fitting. As you can see from the pic, I hve my wheelpants hogged out about as far as I can w/o changing the shape/lines and you can see how the 4" wheels fit. You'll have plenty of room front to rear, but side to side the 4.5 wheel has to be some wider, right? I dunno.

This might be a good option for a larger than 4" diameter wheel: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXWAE0&P=7

This shot of my Monocoupe was taken by MinnFlyer at this year's Joe Nall. It does appear to be flying with the tail a bit low now that y'all mention it

You're right, it does look as if there's a bit of up in the elevator. Might have been taken on climb out.

I forgot to mention that I passed along your compliments to my wife on her videography and she was quite pleased with herself. Thanks for that.

My vote is that you do the build on this thread.

Okay, Paul, well so far you're the majority. Of course, you're also the only one who voted so far...

LOL

Glad to be able to compliment your wife on her videography, she deserved the compliment and earned it.

OK Jimbo
I'll vote that you do the build on here too!
Be looking forward to watching, and will follow what you do w/ the wheels. I understand what you described above. I'm afraid all I did was hog out the bottoms of the pants and bolt on what was in the kit!
Good luck.
Al

Funny you mention the springs Jimbo. I got to that part of the install last night, and wrote "source some REAL springs for the Monocoupe" on my "to-do" list

Texas, mate, read carefully what I said again. You cannot change the AOA of a wing while the airplane is flying 'S and L'. That is set by the section, speed and weight of the aircraft. I am suggesting you look carefully at the wing/fuselage angle in relation to the likely wing AOA when the model is flying. By this I mean the Riggers Angle of Incidence. This is set by the factory. If some version is flying 'tail low' the I bet his wing is set at a different angle to the fuselage than one that is flying tail high. The only other explanation is that the low tail model is a lot heavier and has to fly at an exaggerated AOA simply to stay in the air. Because this model is an ARF it would be prudent to check the rig and the probable flying attitude as you are assembling and I bet that there are many variations. The answer is to do as I suggested and find out what you actually have, and do such surgery as needed to get what you want.

I think one of the great things about our hobby is that you can do things pretty much any way you want (as long as you do it safely, of course). I tend to jump around the instructions on most of my builds. I'm always waiting for epoxy to dry or paint to cure or CA to kick so will do things in the order that best suits me. It's your airplane, sir. I'll just enjoy spectating, whatever you decide to do next.

Gotcha Texas, I think we are talking about two different things. When I say AOA I mean the angle between the chord line of the wing and the local airflow when the thing is flying. You are talking about the rigging angle. I still think, that as you haven't built this thing, that you would be very interested to make sure that you knew what the wing/tailplane relationship was, and the rigged angle of the wing to the fuselage, before you commit aviation with the thing. Given the wide variety of balance opinions, I would be careful to check that too, manuals have been known to be wrong...but we all know that, don't we! Way down this part of the world we don't get ARF's like this, we have to make our own so we generally design in the rig needed before wood is cut. With this ARF you are relying on the accuracy of the mass production jigs, and hoping the original designer got it right. Given the variety of flight attitudes seen, I would advise caution, and check it before gluing bits together.
Evan, WB #12.
