hooray i put the ofna chrome top together using the horrible instructions that came with it, and to my surprise it works it turns on and runs great. i thought for sure i was going to blow myself up with those instructions. i wrote a " final thoughts " note and everything the only thing i couldn't figure out are the plastic pegs that come with it. so hey, mystikal, if you or anyone reading this post could post some pics of the top of an ofna chrome top starter box, i'd appreciate it, cos' i can't figure it out. another issue is that the rubber wheel on the starter box appears to have no effect on the flywheel. i mean, just for kicks i tried to place the arena atop the box and the flywheel didn't spin. if anything, the starter box wheel gave off a rubber burning smell and rubber shavings, during it's feeble attempt to turn the flywheel on the truggy. i immediately removed the truck, cos' i don't want to damage the rubber wheel. speaking of which, i guess i should go ahead and order a back up wheel from amainhobbies cos' to my surprise and dissappointment, it's a very soft, 'duncan hines' [super moist] type starter wheel. i mean, alls i need is some creme cheese frosting and a cold glass a milk and this so called starter wheel could get inside my tummy anyways, i took a closer look and the issue may rest with the orientation of the starter wheel. i could be wrong, but i believe that the starter wheel motor is spinning in the wrong direction. i mean, if the flywheel turns one way to start up and run, shouldn't the rubber wheel be spinning in the opposite direction of the flywheel? shouldn't it be turning away or against the direction of the flywheel? if that's the case, how do you reverse the polarities of the starter box motor? so again, should the starter box wheel spin opposite the flywheel? also, how do you set up the pegs atop of the starter box? does the car sit atop the pegs or does the car sit snug with the pegs on all four sides of the chassis body a pic of the top of a box would be nice and sincerely appreciated. oh also... how long are you suppossed to charge the 12volt gell cell battery? i charged mine for about 24 hours when i probably should've only charged it for 12 hours, right? ps: lucky for me i have yet to install my bump start engine. i mean, at least i can still run the truck [w/ the breaks still killing the RTR engine] until i properly configure the starter box. i'm thinking to maybe wait to install the blue aluminum clutch shoes and gold springs on the newer engine. that way i can just take out the RTR engine and clutch and drop in the new engine and new clutch in one clean sweep. quote:
ORIGINAL: Mystikal8885 The Hitec 5955TG servos are rated at 333oz @ 6volts http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHZR9&P=0 I've had alot of problems with my steering when I first got my truck. The servo saver arm broke while I was breaking in the truck. I replaced it with the CNC part and also installed a Hitec 645MG servo I had. My first race I stripped the gears because I did not set my servo saver correctly after I replaced the arm. I then went ahead and got a pair of the hitec 5955TG servos. I then broke 10 nylon servo arms when I installed the 330oz servo on the steering. I had not grasp the concept of how the servo saver spring works but eventually I did. I think having the extra power from the servos is good because they can stand up to harder punishment. The main thing is that you adjust the servo saver properly so you wont put much strain on the servo. Those dynamite aluminum servo arms work great. The Hitec servo is so powerful I even managed to bend one of the dynamite arms and nothing is wrong with the servo. Great idea Dahlelama!! Works great and looks great! wriffwraff, you mentioned you bought the ofna chrome top starter box? If you are like me, I bet you are having clearance issues. The rubber wheel gets in contact with the underside of the chassis while trying to get in contact with the flywheel. You will have to widen the flywheel hole on the chassis and put washers under the starter box motor to raise it slighty. The stock engine mount has the engine mouted higher on the chassis. Changing to a lower mount will work but if you got the pull start assembly installed the engine may not sit lower. I finally got mine to work properly after many painful hours of testing.
