rajul -> Installation procedure for AFPD model downloads (1/10/2007 12:55:08 PM)

Here's a 5-step guide on how to install downloaded AFPD aircraft models from the various free websites. This is a drag-and-drop method which I find is easier and faster, compared to unzipping.

When you have completed the download of an aircraft model, you will see a zip file on your desktop. An example is shown below.

rajul -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model aircraft (1/10/2007 12:57:44 PM)

Double click on the zip file to open it. You will either see a single folder.......

rajul -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model aircraft (1/10/2007 12:59:08 PM)

.......or you will see a set of files. Leave the zip file open on your desktop.

rajul -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model aircraft (1/10/2007 1:00:29 PM)

Now double click on My Computer->Local Disk (C)->Program Files->IPACS->Aerofly Professional Deluxe->Aircraft

If your zip file has a single folder, use your mouse to drag and drop (or copy and paste) that folder into the "Aircraft" folder.

rajul -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model aircraft (1/10/2007 1:15:21 PM)

If your zip file has a set of files, you will have to create a new folder inside the "Aircraft" folder and give it the same name as the zip file. For example, if the zip file is "rExtreme.zip", then the new folder name should be "rExtreme". Then use your mouse to drag and drop (or copy and paste) all the zip files into the new folder

rajul -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model aircraft (1/10/2007 1:25:44 PM)

Double click on the new model folder to check if there are any .wav sound files in it. Select all the .wav files with the mouse, right click on the selection, and cut. Click the back button in Windows, right click on the "Sound" folder, and paste all the .wav files into it.

Close all open windows and you're all set! You should be able to load and fly the new aircraft model in AFPD.

Addendum: Some of the newer model downloads may come as an executable file. That actually makes life a whole lot easier. All you have to do is the double click on the zip file to extract it, then double click on the .exe file to install the model. The installation will be done automatically.

rajul,
Your installation procedure is very clear and I have followed it exactly (using both a single folder and separate files) but the model ( acromaster_jw) does not appear on the list of AFPD aircraft.
Within the "aircraft" folder the "acromaster_jw" folder is not sorted into its alphabetic place.
Can you help me further please?
Gerry

rajul -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model aircraft (6/16/2007 11:57:20 AM)

Gerry, can you provide me with the download link for the acromaster_jw? Thanks

E.Gerry -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model downloads (6/16/2007 12:38:30 PM)

rajul,
Thanks for the quick reply. www.rc-sim.de Go to Downloads > AFPD Planes then page 6.
Thanks,
Gerry

rajul -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model downloads (6/16/2007 1:08:00 PM)

Gerry, I tested the acromaster_jw and it works fine using the outlined procedure. Do you see the acromaster_jw folder in the AFPD aircraft folder? What version of AFPD do you have 1.8.0.25 or 1.9.7.11? Did you install any addons?

E.Gerry -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model downloads (6/16/2007 1:40:11 PM)

Hi again rajul,
1) the acromaster_jw folder is in the AFPD Aircraft folder. and the files are inside this folder.
2) I have AFPD 1.8.0.17
3) I don't have any addons.
Thanks,
Gerry

rajul -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model downloads (6/16/2007 1:42:51 PM)

The aeromaster_jw file was written for version 1.9.x.x of AFPD. Try and see if this works:

Go to the aircraft directory C:\Program Files\IPACS\AeroFly Professional Deluxe\aircraft and open the aeromaster_jw folder.
Look for the .tmd file and open it with a text editor like notepad or word

Now you need to alter this line in the .tmd file:

// aerofly professional --------------------------------------------------------
//
// file: xxxxxxx.tmd
// version: 1.9.0 <<<<<<<<ALTER THIS LINE TO: // version 1.8.0
//
// type: 20
// lock: 0
//
// -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then click save

rajul,
You'r a star!!!
The Acromaster is up and flying!
Many thanks.
I shall keep this thread handy for future reference.
Gerry

rajul -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model downloads (6/16/2007 2:06:13 PM)

LOL! I would also suggest that you download and apply the 1.8.0.25 update patch. There's a link provided in one of the stickies.

Am I reading this right? Shouldn't I click copy first, then cut or what? Am I to understand that file needs to be deleted in the new model folder?

rajul -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model downloads (12/13/2007 11:32:14 PM)

Hi Phantom, not all downloads have .wav files in the model folder. If there are any, then you'll have to transfer them to the sound folder.

Phantom 1 -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model downloads (12/14/2007 5:16:30 AM)

I know. I just thought you meant copy, instead of cut in your instructions. Sorry.

k2bdv -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model downloads (12/31/2007 1:40:38 AM)

I did exzactly what u said to do and then i open aero fly and the plane is not in there, i just dont understand why.
Does it matter if i have windows vista?

rajul -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model downloads (12/31/2007 9:26:06 AM)

Hi k2, there's no difference with vista. Can you post the link for the plane you downloaded? Thanks

lamreht -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model downloads (6/6/2008 7:51:57 PM)

Rajul,
I have version 1.11.07.09 of AFPD, running on Vista. How do I edit the TMD file so my downloaded planes and secnery will show up?

Thx in advance,
RK

rajul -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model downloads (6/7/2008 12:37:58 AM)

RK, which models did you download and how did you install them? What is the exact problem you are facing?

lamreht -> RE: Installation procedure for AFPD model downloads (6/7/2008 2:52:55 AM)

Rajul,
Thanks for getting back to me. Here is the info you asked for:
I downloaded 4 models from http://arthur.heim.at

"which models did you download?"

AS_BLUESHARK_AFPD
AS_NURI-E_AFPD
AS_PIPERJ3_AFPD
AS_S-39_W_AFPD

"how did you install them?"
I downloaded them to C\username\documents\aircraft. Once I found them I then opened the files and followed the instuctions. They unzipped and went into the aircraft folder in AFPD.

"What is the exact problem you are facing?"

I renamed them and they show up in the folder, but when I start the program they don't come up. I did read something to the affect of changing the version # in the TMD file, but have not done that til I know that's what I should really do.

Thx
RK
